R&D Principal Engineer

Job Description

Candidates must have experience in developing complex (multi-stage) software systems on Linux platforms utilizing grid computing, and have experience mentoring and implementing software development best practices throughout the software development life cycle including configuration management and release processes.Knowledge of EDA flows, infrastructure, and/or Memory/IO/SC compiler systems, Web portals, ASIC flows and process automation, will be preferred.Candidate willbe expected to lead development projects (independent owner/authoring and co-development team efforts) while following organizational standards and practices to deliver high quality software, and meet aggressive schedules and milestones.have frequent communication with organization leaders and peers across geographically disperse locations and time zones - have excellent verbal and written communication skills.perform development/modification of software code (mostly Perl), perform unit & system testing, and will be expected to lead major project initiatives.work closely with technical leads/senior team members from other regions/teams to evolve and improve organizational standards and practices.solve complex code debug problems, provide technical insight towards the development & improvements of software code for library systems/tools/processes.read, analyze, and modify a large base of legacy scripts and software code to debug, increase system performance, improve user experience, and to reduce support overhead.oversee the software design and code of colleagues/subordinates in the organization and serve as a knowledge resource for software development best practices, build team consensus to implement continuous improvements to development processes.develop automation and flows for the generation of EDA models working closely with Memory/IO circuit design teams in a collaborative environment within the Electronic/Electrical Engineering domain.work directly with chip design teams throughout Broadcom, internal software teams, and tool vendors globally to find timely solutions to ASIC CAD flow related issues.perform project management such as prioritizing tasks, aligning goals with management, establishing delivery commitments, and meet effort and schedule constraints.be available to respond to library support queries and address tickets on compile and system issues from product teams across Broadcom.Requirements:Extensive experience in software engineering and programming/coding skills on Linux platforms. Experience with grid computing (LSF or SGE) is a strong plus.High level experience in system/tools/process automation.Typically B.E/B.Tech in EE/ECE/CSE with programming/coding experience with 20 years of industry experience, or M.E/M.Tech with 18 years of experience in software coding.Can strive in dynamic development environments, with frequent context switching, and multi-tasking.Can balance technical and people skills to establish strong SDLC practices and understanding.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Proficient with most of the following: Perl, MySQL, HTML, Javascript, Jquery, AJAX, , Python, C/C.Familiarity with software tools & frameworks - SVN, Synchronicity/DSM, GIT, Apache webserver, Cadence Skill, .NET/JAVA web application framework.Understanding of library compiler software, infrastructure and systems like Memory/IO/Standard Cell compilers, web portal, and queue/triage tracking systems is preferred.Knowledge of Chip/IP design tools and flows and EE industry experience is desirable.Sharp eye for details.Strong analytical, problem solving, quick learning skills are required.Good team player, methodical, independent and ability to remain calm and composed in high pressure situations.,
