Job Description

Fermentation Research Associate will play a significant role in our upstream process development. Core responsibilities include executing bench-scale fermentations with the goal of achieving improved KPIs. This incumbent will be responsible for independently operating bioreactors at laboratory scale, preparing media, processing samples and analyzing results. The candidate is someone who is enthusiastic about laboratory bench work, exhibits meticulous attention to detail, and an eagerness to learn new techniques .

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs a wide range of laboratory bench top experiments related to existing bioprocess.
  • Conducts fermentation experiments using shake flasks, bench scale and pilot scale bioreactors to optimize the production and achieve higher bioactivity
  • Conducts downstream processing related to harvest, concentration, separation, drying etc.
  • Conducts biochemical quantification assays with fermentation samples
  • Responsible for sample collection, process monitoring, data collection and data recording.
  • Responsible for maintenance of all relevant equipment
  • Conducts independent research with minimal supervision.
  • Maintains comprehensive record of all data
  • Contributes to experimental design, data analysis, writing of technical reports and other required documentation
  • Collaborates with other scientists and research assistants within and outside the fermentation research team
  • Be a conscientious laboratory citizen and adhere to EH S standards.
  • The position is full-time. Work schedule may occasionally include weekend.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • M.Sc. /B.Tech in Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related field.
  • 3 years work experience in in bio-industrial, Pharma or life sciences preferably in Fermentation.
  • Experience in standard analytical, biological and wet chemistry laboratory equipment as well as experience in aseptic technique and other classical microbiology techniques is desired
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential as well as good oral and written communication skills
