Intel Labs has a history of research and development of high impact technology innovations spanning and collaborating with Intel product teams to incubate and productize these innovations in products across datacenter client and edge segments while ensuring that the definition and usage of new features are data driven. The team is responsible for architecture definition of new CPU and accelerator capabilities, analyzing emerging usage models, and building hardware and software prototypes for new features. The team partners with architects and product teams to drive their definition and productization in the platform roadmap. As we expand our research to better optimize cloud computing, we are looking for a research scientist to contribute hands-on to the development of prototypes and performance models for new platform features including accelerator blocks. The candidate will be responsible for implementing and integrating detailed functional simulations of computer systems in close collaboration with other groups responsible for designing and developing these computer systems. In addition the candidate will also be responsible for maintaining and improving performance simulation models with additional functionality and better user experience. He or she will work closely with partners to identify and customize infrastructure and workloads to inform and influence future technology definition.QualificationsRequired Skills PhD or MS in CS EECS ECE or related computing discipline Strong background in computer architecture and Intel platform architecture Good working knowledge and experience with Verilog/System Verilog, RTL design, FPGA design and FPGA design tools Knowledge of and hands-on experience with system software e.g. OS and VMM memory management, scheduling, kernel driver architectures Experience with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, PowerShell, and programming languages such as C or C++ Proficient with Linux installation, configuration; experience configuring and using VMMs, containers and corresponding orchestration tools Experience in performance benchmarking modeling and analysis Proven track record of taking initiative and driving projects to completion results orientation Excellent communication skills and attention to detail Extreme tolerance for ambiguity Desired skills Knowledge of and experience with high-performance and cloud-native architectures and technologies Experience with hardware and software performance monitoring resources e.g. EMON, VTune, Perf, sysstat Experience with automation frameworks and tools Microarchitecture and experience using performance analysis tools as well as cycle accurate simulatorsInside this Business GroupIntel Labs is the companys world-class, industry leading research organization, responsible for driving Intels technology pipeline and creating new opportunities.
