Senior Research Scientist - FloodPosition description:One of the largest global insurers is seeking a Senior Research Scientist Flood Modeling to join the Cat Management and Analytics Center of Excellence in Bangalore India. The interested individual will join a dynamic research and development team comprising people with diverse backgrounds, such as natural hazards, engineering, flood modeling, atmospheric sciences, meteorology, etc. This position will be responsible for conducting research and developing cutting edge underwriting and portfolio management solutions for flood/storm surge/tsunami risk assessment. Individuals should also have strong experience in developing climate-informed probabilistic flood risk models.Responsibilities include:o Develop cutting edge underwriting and portfolio management tools for fluvial and pluvial flood, storm surge, and tsunami risk assessmento Develop high resolution global space-time rainfall simulation model conditioned on the climate variableso Develop flood hazard maps and analytics in flood-prone countries around the worldo Ability to work with hydraulic, hydrodynamic, and hydrologic modelso Ability to work with large climate datasets, hydrological and meteorological data, and DTMso Perform in-depth validation of hazard and vulnerability components of flood models from RMS and AIRPosition Requirements:o Ph.D. in Hydrometeorology, Hydraulics, Hydrology, Water Resources, Civil Engineering, or a related disciplineo Strong background in hydrological, hydraulic, and hydrodynamic modeling, probability and statisticso Minimum 4 years experience in fluvial and pluvial flood, storm surge or tsunami modelingo Strong computer skills, including GPU Computing, Parallel Computing, R, Python, Fortran, C, ArcGIS and SQLo Excellent analytical, writing, communication, and organizational skillsIt has been and will continue to be the policy of American International Group, Inc., its subsidiaries and affiliates to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
