Job Description

We are Digital Engineering Team - the Software Center of Excellence for Thermo Fisher Scientific. We are responsible for developing and delivering SaaS based applications and digital lab (Cloud-based) tools, to help scientists do their work more efficiently and with precision, enabling them to make our world healthier, cleaner and safer. We apply industry best practices to the design, development, and deployment of world-class software products built to leverage the power and scalability of the cloud.Roles & Responsibilities: As a Scientist/developer you will develop Liquid Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (LCMS) algorithms for Component Detection using big data distributed computing frameworks such as Spark, Hadoop and AWS Lambda. The ideal candidate will have extensive LCMS algorithm development experience as well as experience in Spark and HDFS file formats. The Scientist/Engineer will develop algorithm logic, create testing frameworks for validation and apply software engineering principles to create code libraries for our big data processing pipeline.
  • Responsible for ownership of multiple significant software modules.
  • Responsible for leading the integrity of technical work on significant concurrent projects.
  • Plans, participates and performs the technical work of an assignment.
  • Execute the implementation, automated unit and integration testing, debugging and integration of code of extreme complexity across multiple concurrent projects.
  • Establishes and maintains thorough and accurate documentation of all work.
Mandatory Skills, Knowledge and experience requirement:6-10 years of experience MapReduce programming with Spark and Hadoop Distributed File System (HDFS) and with processing large data stores 2 years experience in one the following languages Scala, Java or Python, R 3+ years of experience in C# and .NET (good to have) 2 Years experience in developing algorithms Functional programming experience is a plus Experience with cloud hosted applications (i.e. AWS, Azure) is a plus Preferred Skills and Experience:
  • Life Science experience preferred, but not required
