Job Description

Technical Requirements:

  • Good experience in MS SQL 2000, 2005, 2008 and 2012 Installation, patching/upgrade and handling very large databases.
  • Strong knowledge in installing/managing SQL failover clustering, configuring log shipping and mirroring.
  • Comfortable in setting up and managing all the backup and recovery strategies.
  • Good experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting.
  • Good experience in replication set up and DTS/SSIS.
  • Exposure to third party tools like TSM TDP, VERITAS Net backup
  • Excellent communication skills and customer-support focused attitude
  • Knowledge of Oracle, DB2 LUW, MySQL, Sybase, Progress, PostgreSQL databases are plus.
  • Strong knowledge on ITIL practices and ITSM tools.
Role & responsibilities:
  • Work with client or Project manager to understand the business requirements, Recommend database solution and implement
  • Installation and configuration of MS SQL databases, SQL failover clustering, SQL mirroring and other data replication software /tools.
  • Set up database backup and perform database recovery when required.
  • Configure DB monitoring using SQL native or third party software.
  • DB Upgrade, DB migrations and patch the existing Oracle databases.
  • Optimize Oracle Database performance and guide application team to tune the SQL queries.
  • Automation of database related activities.
  • Support level 1 & level 2 resources whenever required.
