Description
Primary Responsibilities
- Know your customer and their behaviors, needs and concerns
- Know your product and its inner workings.
- Collaborate on product stories with the Product Manager.
- Work closely with Product Managers, Engineers, Quality Assurance and other key stakeholders throughout the software development process.
- Use analytical written communication skills to create acceptance criteria and other supporting specifications, documenting business logic and the user s experience.
- Define specs that will be used by engineering teams during the software development process (such as user flows and wireframes)
- Understand the Apttus products, analyze and determine the level of quality of a product or feature, through conversations and testing. You will document findings in detail, and communicate findings/feedback to all appropriate parties, including creation of defects
- Assist review and update of product documentation during release cycles
- Work with PMO, Professional Services, Technical support in reviewing and providing updates for priority bugs and defects for patch releases.
Typical Day
We follow agile software development process at Apttus. At a minimum, you ll know what your goals are for the week ahead and can come up with the right set of priorities ( eg., chose between a customer impacting bug vs. a risk to a feature delivery deadline vs. a looming grooming deadline). You ll use Jira, Google, Microsoft for Business products, likely have multiple conversations during the day with other team members before, during, and after you finish deliverables/tasks. You ll attend daily scrum meetings and provide updates on your progress. You will participate and collaborate on user story grooming, review designs for upcoming work with product and engineering teams. You will define you acceptance criteria using plain English and / or numbers as demanded by the feature. You have the ability to sense risk to the deliverables evaluate the impact of the slip.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Qualities
- Deep customer empathy Step into the shoes of the user and ask What if I were using this feature / API / screen / button / report myself
- 5+ years of experience in business analysis, product analysis, quality assurance, and/or software development.
- Working knowledge of API design and its usage in an software ecosystem.
- Innate ability to skim and/or deep dive through data and its relationships as is needed ( prior data model experience highly valued).
- Affinity with numbers ( you should be comfortable with reading spreadsheets and modelling use cases using spreadsheets).
- Ability to parallel task but also be able to ruthlessly prioritize daily/weekly/sprint deliverables while marching towards the best possible outcome.
- Analytical mindset and problem solving skills that help zero in on the source of the issues quickly.
- Experience building Enterprise products in SaaS environment
- Exceptional written and verbal communications skills
- Able to clearly articulate technical solutions to internal technical audiences
- Be hugely organized with the ability to thrive and get the right things done in an environment where there is no end of things to do.
- Must be flexible and available after normal business hours to work with global teams
- Experience in Salesforce (or) CRM / ERP is a nice to have but is not a must
- Flexibility to occasional travel (less than 10)
- BS/BA or equivalent in CS or related technical field
