Job Description

*General Description of the Job Class

  • Perform a variety of routines and ability to learn complex, specialized, and technical tasks associated with different modalities like Linear accelerator and perform high-end techniques like IMRT, IGRT, and Rapidarc.
  • To ensure smooth functioning of Treatment execution of treatment implementation is progressing at the External beam Radiotherapy unit.
  • To ensure Radiation Oncology mould room and simulation works are carried out
  • Assign Duty schedule for Radiotherapy technologist.
  • Report to Chief Medical regarding daily functional activities of the department.
Duties and Responsibilities of this LevelRelated to machines:
  • Routine quality check.
  • Cleaning and maintaining of the machines
  • Careful handling of the machine.
  • Reporting to Medical Physicist in case of any problem.
Handing and taking over of job:Completion of pending work such as documentation, report printing, and extension of studies.Prioritization:
  • Emergency vs. nonemergency.
  • Children vs. Adults.
  • Communication with the patient Identification of the patient by two identifiers.
  • Collecting brief history of the patient.
  • Checking the required documents such as request form- part to be examined, bill copy, and serum creatinine. Fasting status / full bladder.
  • Explaining the procedure to the patient.
  • Verbal and written consent after explaining the radiation hazards, contrast reactions.
  • Preparation of the patient for the procedure.
Performing the procedure:
  • Overview all the procedures performed by the other radiotherapy technologists.
  • Checking the machine, functional status. Adjusting the correct technique as per the test and the patient keeping in mind the radiation safety guidelines such as least radiation dose and proper targeting o the study.
  • Keeping the additional requirements ready such as thermoplastic moulds, Vacloc, Electron cutout, Mouth bite etc.
  • Positioning the patient according to the study with proper immobilization, collimation, and protecting the equipment keeping in mind patient s privacy and dignity.
  • Completing the procedure at the earliest.
  • Performing CT stimulation
  • Assisting by providing additional equipment/requirements for radiotherapy invasive and non-invasive procedures in the department.
Documentation:
  • Entering the patient s details in the ARIA along with details about the procedure
  • Accurate setup & imaging to demonstrate the patient treatment has been executed as per the treatment intent.
  • Storing of data of all the patients as per the hospital policy in particular the MLC cases.
  • Update RT chart regarding the treatment details
