Started in 2014, the center now hosts 500+ associates, for multiple Danaher operating companies focusing on Diagnostics, Life Science, and Environmental and Applied Science segments. The operating companies includes Beckman Coulter, Radiometer, Leica Biosystems, Danaher Digital, Hach, Leica Microsystems, HemoCue, Videojet and Cepheid.The IDC workforce comprises of various product engineering teams, working on development of software and hardware components of cutting-edge products for, Immunoassay, Chemistry, Hematology, Molecular diagnostics, Oncology, Neurosurgery and Water Quality. IDC has evolved as center of excellence for Cloud and data analytics, with significant contributions to the key informatics solutions. The teams consist of highly skilled software & hardware engineers and development managers. The teams are supported by local Product managers, Quality & Regulatory and Intellectual property specialists.The inhouse teams works in close coordination with other global R&D centers at US, France, Germany, Japan, Australia, Denmark and Sweden. Located at the center of Bangalore IT HUB, IDC is housed at state of art facility, measuring 120 K Sqft.Cepheid is looking for a Firmware verification engineer to join our firmware engineering team that leads development efforts for embedded software for commercial products and in-house research that is architecting and designing the core software for our next generation platform in our extraordinary molecular diagnostics product series. You will be developing test methods, and software test tools to help diagnose software issues.Essential Job Responsibilities:

• Responsible for maintaining, validating, developing, interface protocols for embedded systems and client-server architecture, mathematical analysis and data acquisition.
• Enhance and maintain existing firmware verification tools.
• Develop test protocols/methods to verify firmware applications.
• Perform black box, white box, regression, and unit testing supporting R&D system application developed in C/C++.
• Documents firmware test plans, results, and reports Methods used are resolved by approved procedures and standards.
• Tracks firmware test engineering effort by creating and maintaining records in the approved tracking management tool.
• Communicates status and priority to team and management.
• Collaborates with firmware, system, hardware and software engineers to provide significant innovation
• Continuously improves process and work methodologies by collaborating with peers/multi-functional groups and analyzing activities to improve workflow and work processes.
• Work on projects that will involve mathematical data analysis, data acquisition and storage, and hardware interfacing and control.
• Participate in multi-functional project teams with scientists, technical support and other engineers to diagnose software/ firmware issues.
• Document software/firmware; write technical specifications for interfaces and testing.

What We Are Looking For:

• Engineering degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or an equivalent technical field). Or, equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
• A minimum 3+ years of hand-on experience in software testing, writing test scripts, programming embedded system design for commercial instrumentation.
• Familiarity with C, C++ programming with experience in real-time system design, debug, and testing.
• Experience with software bug tracking systems like JIRA
• Familiarity with communication technologies (TCP/IP, UDP etc.), robotics, and system engineering.
• Fast learner, self-motivated, willing to work outside the job description.
• Demonstrated analytical/experimental problem-solving skills to understand hardware, software issues, and be able to quickly analyze and resolve system inter-operability problems.
• Experience in Medical device industry is a plus
• Familiarity with Firmware/Hardware testing methodologies Familiarity with scripting tools such as Matlab and Python
