Senior Software EngineerLocation Bangalore - CarinaPosting date 3 days ago(1/5/2021 9:33 AM)Job ID 83533 Category Software Engineering Job summary The Red Hat Hibernate (Red Hat Middleware) team is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join us in Bengaluru, India. In this role, you will work as part of an R&D engineering team, focused on improving and maintaining the Hibernate project, which is a set of very popular open source libraries. In this role, you will explore and implement novel ideas to improve the Hibernate projects, help with the maintenance of the code, and help users and customers to build successful projects. You ll need to be able to work with a remote-first team across multiple time zones in an agile, open source design and development environment. You will work with the Hibernate team to design and develop Hibernate ORM, Quarkus, and other Hibernate projects. As a Senior Software Engineer, you ll need to be open-minded and creative and have the ability to explore novel ideas and solve problems. Primary job responsibilities

  • Work with the Hibernate team to design and develop Hibernate projects; become responsible for their quality and performance
  • Interact with the community to help users, guide open source contributors, and understand how the Hibernate projects are being used and identify what should be done to make them even more successful
  • Propose and implement new features based on an analysis of customer requirements, industry trends, and competitive offerings
  • Collaborate with a distributed team of developers working on data integration and related open source communities
Required skills
  • 5+ years of professional development experience in Java
  • 5+ years of direct development experience in Hibernate ORM
  • 5+ years of development experience with open source contributions and community
  • Ability to develop following test-driven design (TDD) principles; experience with integration testing
  • Ability to design and implement Java code while taking into account the impact that different design choices will have on runtime performance
  • Understanding of concurrency and multithreading, the Java concurrency basics, and the Java memory model
  • Ability to work on Java API design and to make considerations on the compatibility of API changes
  • Experience with database technologies like MySQL, Oracle, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server, IBM DB2, MariaDB, etc.
  • Experience with Git, build tools like Gradle and Maven, and continuous integration (CI) tools
  • Experience contributing to open source projects and GitHub
  • Direct experience with Hibernate Search and Hibernate Validator
  • Experience with Reactive programming
  • Experience with Spring, Java EE, Jakarta EE, and Quarkus
  • Experience with cloud services like Kubernetes, Red Hat OpenShift, Amazon Web Services (AWS), or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with performance diagnostic tools, garbage collection, and JDK tuning
  • Familiarity with Linux system maintenance
  • Willingness to help grow the mindshare for our technologies by blogging, delivering webinars, and traveling to present at conferences
  • Experience with other technologies in the data space like NoSQL databases like Apache Cassandra, MongoDB, and Google Cloud, Spanner, search engines like Apache Lucene and Elasticsearch, and Debezium and Apache Kafka
