Software Development Engineer, AmazonSmile

Job Description

We re growing our software engineering team to expand the AmazonSmile program and make it even easier for our customers to support their favorite charitable organization every time they shop.We are looking for a Software Development Engineer (SDE) that can work across multiple projects and systems, someone who can impact multiple parts of our team. The SDE will be a key part of the team responsible for the core infrastructure that powers the retail website, our charity registration portal (OrgCentral), and our donation processing system. As a SDE, you will play key role in developing and architecting around these complex systems. You ll have opportunities to process Big Data and design & build services at massive scale (millions of orders), all while supporting almost a million non profits across multiple countries. Along with building new systems and applications you will get to influence and work with other teams in the organization, work on mentoring junior SDEs and grow as a technical leader.Our development team is distributed across geographies and this position is based out of our team in Bangalore. Youll have opportunities to travel to United States few times a year to learn, share and interact with our team members there.Key Responsibilities:

• Participate in the full development life cycle, working within broadly defined parameters, including design, development, testing, and maintenance
• Own the delivery of an entire piece of a system or application, and serve as a technical lead on small to midsize complex projects
• Management and execution against project plans and delivery commitments
• Work closely with the architects to develop the best technical design and approach for new product development
• Build software solutions where the problem is not well defined. Design and define the interaction with other components.

• B.E./B.Tech. in Information Technology, Computer Science (or equivalent degree)
• 5+ years professional experience in software development
• Proficiency in at least one modern language like C, C++, Java, etc.
• Solid understanding of Computer Science fundamentals like object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
• Experience designing and implementing distributed systems
• International business travel experience - expected to travel to US 2 - 4 times a year

General

• 7-9 years experience in software development
• Proven result oriented person with a delivery focus
• Willingness to dive into software environments and technical issues and to sharpen the skills necessary to for building newer and better products

Experience in

• Distributed, scalable, high-volume, low latency systems/applications
