Job Description

Key Responsibilities :The job involves certification of Operating Systems (Windows, Linux, VMware ESXi) and associated features on Dell Enterprise Server Platforms using applicable technologies and Software Engineering methodologies. The job also includes characterization, containment and RCA of defects related to OS & Certification on different Hardware configurations. A strong background in computer architecture will be a plus. The engineer is responsible to deal with various subsystems of the Operating System with focus on Dell hardware and should be able to lead & drive the OS Certification deliverables.

  • Collaborate with Internal Engineering and Process teams to assess and deliver to the requirements related to OS Certifications.
  • Engage with the Platform & ODM Teams to drive the OS Certification deliverables.
  • Characterize, contain and perform Root Cause Analysis of the defects related to OS Certifications. Provide adequate technical details to the internal and external teams to substantiate the findings and drive issue resolution.
  • Ability to automate the repetitive tasks wherever applicable using relevant development tools is a plus.
  • Build rapport with the vendors and the internal teams at Dell. Work in coordination with the teams to achieve engineering objectives.
  • Study new technologies offered by Dell and share the knowledge with team members through presentations.
  • Assist other Dell teams, as and when needed to resolve OS & Certification issues.
  • Keep track of developments in the OS Vendor Certification Kits and should have good hands on and understanding of them.
Essential Requirements
  • Should be very good in Computer Architecture, with good exposure to Hardware, BIOS, UEFI, Firmware and OS layers.
  • Should have good in-depth understanding of OS Boot process and internals.
  • Should have good exposure to OS Certification Kits & associated policies.
  • Exposure to Intel/AMD CISC architecture will be a plus.
  • Must have good analytical skills to trouble shoot technical issues.
  • Should have solid written and verbal communication skills. Experience involving day-to-day interaction with distributed teams would be an added advantage.
  • Should have 3-6 years of experience in the software/hardware industry.
  • Should be an engineering graduate in Electronics & Communication/Computer Science.
