The National Instruments Application Software Team is seeking to hire a Software Group Manager to who would serve as an Engineering manager and leads a team of engineers to enable them ship impactful, high-priority features with high-quality for LabVIEW NXG, which is a graphical programming environment and also a flagship product from NI.The primary responsibilities of this position will be to work closely with product owners to gather high-level product requirements from customers, translate them into features to be executed by the team, chart out a confident execution plan by identifying risks and mitigation plan by keeping the business owners updated on progress and eventually help in shipping high-quality features through adopting agile development methodologies. The ideal candidate has experience working in an agile development setup, understands the urgency that the role brings with it and set motivating goals for the team to execute. The candidate will also be expected to serve as a people manager for highly skilled engineers and help them provide career guidance, coaching and mentorship opportunities through appropriate performance management and keeping the overall engagement scores for the team high.The Software Group Manager position is a high visibility role within NI requiring daily interaction with Product owners, other NI Engineering Teams, and Executive Management.Job ResponsibilitiesInteract with Product Owners to understand the most important product requirements that aligns with company s Core Strategic VisionTranslate high-level technical requirements into user visible, features that the engineering team can pick up to implement by adopting agile best practicesChart out an execution plan by working with the technical leads that allows the team to smoothly execute on the committed features on time with superior qualityEnsure that the business owners are kept updated with the progress of the projects through appropriate communication on the project statusIdentify risks and come up with mitigation and contingency plans to ensure minimal impact on the schedule and commitmentsEnsure execution efficiency of engineers and intervene to take corrective measures if things are not trending as expectedPersonnel management through setting and monitoring goals, career coaching and performance management, Basic QualificationsMinimum Bachelor degree in Computer Engineering or Electronics EngineeringAround 7-9 years relevant industry experience with at least 5 years in Software development and 1+ years of Project/People management exposureStrong understanding of computer architecturesDemonstrated coding using one or more of high-level programming languages (i.e. C#, C, C++, Java, LabVIEW)Willingness to work with project stakeholders and enable the team to be successful in delivering high-quality features in a dynamic, fast-paced environmentSelf-motivated and great written and verbal communication skills Preferred Qualifications Hands on experience of working with NI LabVIEWDemonstrated ability to:o Work effectively in a diverse, multi-cultural group development environmento Problem-solve effectively - diagnose technical issues and propose reasonable solutionso Take initiative, be a self-starter, and work independentlyo Persistently drive tasks and lead projects to successful completiono Quickly learn applicable technology, systems, and productsStrong work ethic and drive to succeed
