Job Description

  • Provides technical expertise in developing solutions to complex software engineering problems, which require frequent use of ingenuity and creativity. Provides work leadership to others. Interfaces with management to provide and obtain information and gain consensus regarding project direction.
  • Writes functional detailed design specs as well as contributing to product requirements analysis.
  • Writes solid code in order to add new or enhancing existing functionality.
  • Collaborates well with other engineers and other engineering groups, voluntarily shares information.
  • Offers proposed design changes/suggestions to processes and products, exerts significant latitude in determining objectives of an assignment.
  • Exercises considerable latitude in determining technical objectives, without appreciable direction.
  • Understands and adheres to cost/delivery/quality targets established during the program design phase.
  • Works effectively with cross-functional and/or global teams, readily shares information with others.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • BE/BTech/MTech in Computer Engineering or equivalent
  • 9 - 12 years of experience
REQUIREDSKILLS
  • Strong experience on storage and virtualization constructs required - understands concepts such as SAN, NAS, and replication technologies.
  • Understanding of common software development practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills and solid debugging skills.
  • Strong skills in designing software components and engineering them.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong experience in Java and/or C++.
  • Knowledge on EJB 3.0 and JPA over Hibernate or Hibernate.
  • Knowledge on JBOSS.
  • Knowledge on REST Web-Services with REST specification.
  • Knowledge on Web and Application servers like Apache, HTTP, Tomcat.
  • Working knowledge on Maven, Eclipse, SVN, JIRA, GIT.
  • Experience with developing on Windows and/or Linux.
  • Good understanding of object oriented design patterns.
  • Fix issues in the product to meet quality and performance requirements.
  • Trouble-shoot problems found at customer sites and provide quick workarounds and resolutions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and perform code, design, and unit test review.
  • Good team player and exhibits strong collaboration skills.
DESIRED SKILLS
  • Exposure to working in a Development environment that uses Python.
  • Working knowledge and experience in backup, protection and recovery area wrt applications and environments like SAP, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Hyper-V, VMWARE.
  • Prior experience working in Agile and/or working as part of SCRUM teams is desirable.
