Job Description

  • Fundamentally accountable for business value attainment for Dell IT projects.
  • Provide leadership to a team of 15+ direct reports and direct their efforts in line with the overall IT strategy
  • Communicate and translate Dell IT s vision/strategy to staff
  • Addresses problems across functional areas of the business.
  • Demonstrate leadership and influence peers, other IT & Business Stake holders.
  • Responsible for hiring, staffing, attrition management and maintaining a diverse and effective workforce.
  • Meet budgetary goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for mentoring and developing team members
  • Career development activities of the direct staff.
  • Performance management activities of the direct staff.
  • Prepare and present reports to the leadership team.
  • Develop next generation leaders thru mentoring, coaching and succession planning.
  • Ensure the team s morale and engagement levels are high.
  • Provide technical & functional leadership to various roles in a Development organization.
  • Adopt new technologies & IT processes to achieve organization goals - cost reduction, productivity, quality, on-time delivery, IT-simplification
  • Plan, coordinate and direct the activities of the team.
  • Manage a global application portfolio, with geographically distributed stakeholders, business partners, development and deployment teams
  • Articulate, drive and own IT Strategy within the specific portfolio, in line with business and IT priorities
  • Effectively Manage relationships with internal IT and Business Partners.
  • Clearly understand Dells short and long-term goals and align Application s Direction and Team s objectives with Organization goa.
Essential Requirements:
  • Bachelors or Masters Degree in Engineering or a related field
  • 15 years of IT experience in MSFT, Java, SQL Server or Oracle Technologies.
  • 4+ years of experience in an IT leadership role -Development Manager.
  • Experienced in coaching and mentoring technical team members.
  • Strong background in developing, deploying and maintaining Enterprise Wide Global IT Solutions.
  • Experience around Tools and Technologies related to Microsoft/Java technologies, Oracle, SQL Server, Messaging, Webservices, Workflows, Monitoring
  • SCM, IDE, Testing, Build and Deployment Tools.
  • Knowledge, skills and abilities required to resolve the most complex IT issues.
  • Experience around OOAD, Design Patterns, SOA, 3-Tier Architecture, Service Bus, Security, Authentication, Performance Counters
  • Experience with various development methodologies - MSF, Waterfall, Agile, ITIL.
  • Strong functional understanding of the current Applications and business domain.
  • Strong Problem-Solving skills, Analytical skills, Troubleshooting and ability to learn on the fly.
  • Experience in working with global Services, IT and business teams
  • Ability to provide leadership in a matrix organization.
  • Strong presentation skills, written and oral communication skills
  • Experience in Supply Chain Management is preferred, especially with supply chain planning and product life cycle management.
Desirable Requirements:
  • Familiarity with Pivotal development methodologies and software development lifecycle principles
