Job Description

Position Summary: Perform the planning and the coordination of installation, testing, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance and administration of complex virtualized environment consisting of Microsoft Windows Operating Systems. Manage accounts, network rights, and access to systems and equipment. Manage systems resources including performance, capacity, availability, serviceability, and recoverability; implementing security procedures and tools. Develop and document systems administration standard operating procedures. Resolve hardware/software interface and interoperability problems within the virtualized environment. Ensure systems availability, functionality, integrity, and efficiency.

  • The candidate should have a very high level of knowledge of VMware and of storage.
  • On a daily basis, the Administrator will work on several projects as well as maintain day to day operations for VMware, PureStorage, Cisco UCS.
  • The Administrator will be building, configuring and monitoring/maintaining VMware systems
  • The 3rd level support will involve troubleshooting performance problems, working with vendors, running reports, checking systems daily, host cluster migrations, Cisco UCS domain service profile moves.
  • Candidates should have in-depth, hands-on experience with VSphere (5.5+) as well as common technologies used in a VMWare environment such as Site Recovery Manager and the vRealize suite.
  • Responsible for managing server and storage infrastructure for 3rd level support for corporate infrastructure.
  • The candidate will be responsible for ESXi host builds, configuration, and maintenance on UCS servers vCenter builds, configuration, and maintenance vSphere replication.
  • Creation of port mirroring sessions UCS profile creation and firmware updates Performance troubleshooting on physical and virtual servers from a storage and server perspective.
  • Administer and monitor a 24/7/365 enterprise level virtualization infrastructure based on VMware product suites
  • Ensure VMware applications and ESXi hosts remain current with operating system (OS) versions and patches
  • Responsible for analysis, administration and support of VMWare Horizon View VDI, thin clients, and other VDI-related technology
  • Diagnose and repair system problems, utilizing tool sets available and working closely with other internal groups and vendor support. Perform upgrade of VM Tools
  • Perform administration in Azure cloud (e.g., defining and maintaining cloud subscriptions, VMs, accounts, .)
  • Develop and maintain documentation, which includes SOPs, TTPs, System Architecture Guides and Diagrams for all DAIIS systems and hardware configurations adhering to organizational templates and policies
Additional Details:
  • The candidate will be required to be on call on a rotating basis.
  • The Administrator will work as a team member under guidance of the Team Leader and work with other IT groups.
  • Assess, debug, and resolve IT issues and escalations in a timely manner, showing an appropriate sense of urgency and ability to prioritize work when multiple issues are present simultaneously
  • Ability to excel in a collaborative and distributed team environment establish strong relationship-building and communication skills with team members and business users
  • Ability to work with a minimal amount of direction and communicate pro-actively across appropriate levels
