Job Description

Role purpose

The Main objective of this role is Design, Development and Enhancement of Smarts and Watch4Net applications ensuring that all project deliveries are met and the finished product meets or exceeds the customer s expectation

Key accountabilities

OSS Tools Design and Development

  • Ensure that all new systems & applications are Designed, Integrated and tested to the highest standards ensuring that all specified requirements are met.
  • To provide effort estimate of SMARTS projects and enhancements work from given high level design/specifications.
  • Upgrading Smarts platform and liaising with vendor for Integration of new features
  • Ensure creation and maintenance of relevant documentation such as release notes, code version control, deployment guides to enable the integration to be supported smoothly.
  • Debug reported issues and providing resolutions to internal and external customers/users
  • Identify and Develop potential improvements and Enhancements in Smarts
  • Liaise with cross functional teams integrated with SMARTS and other Network management tools
  • Liaise with integrated cross functional teams to ensure the impacts of planned changes on projects and integrated applications

Key performance indicators (financial and non-financial)

  • Key programmes and projects are delivered in line with OSS roadmap requirements (time / quality / cost)
  • Ensure Code Quality checks are done for all Projects and enhancement deliveries
  • Ensure that all costs provided for Impact analyses are as accurate as possible, stand up to scrutiny, are not over-inflated and where information is not available, sensible assumptions are made and communicated/agreed
  • Ensure the requirements are discussed, agreed and documented and then the solution offered is clarified and signed off by stakeholders
  • Ensure that ID delivery methodologies are optimised to best meet the needs of the business

Role specific requirements

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 6+ years IT experience with an understanding of Smarts suite
  • Expertise in Development of Smarts modules SAM, BIM, IP AM/PM and Adapters.
  • Must have a very high degree of competency of UNIX, Shell and perl scripting
  • Experience of other NMS solutions like Infovista, M&R
  • Experience in deployment of OSS and management software in a service-provider or global-enterprise setting.

Familiar with standard practices like SDLC
