Job Description

Job Title: System Engineer, IT (Identity & Access Management)Functional Area: Corporate Information TechnologyThermo Fisher Scientific has an opening for a new Sr System Engineer in the Identity and Access Management team. This position provides an exciting opportunity to help evolve the identity landscape within a complex environment. We are looking for a talented candidate experienced in design, implementation, and support of a large-scale global enterprise environment. This hands-on position will require technical and subject matter expertise especially related to Active Directory. Federation and Single-Sign On technologies, DNS, DHCP, and virtual directory systems.Location/Division Specific InformationThe Identity & Access Management team is a part of the Secure Core Infrastructure Team. Members of the team are charged with developing identity and access management solutions for the organization.How will you make an impact This role is pivotal to the engineering and support of global activities surrounding Active Directory, federation, access, and associated components that support critical business, administrative, and scientific functions.What will you do

  • Manage and maintain the various Active Directory forests and domains within the global landscape
  • Manage and maintain our IP Address Management (IPAM) solutions for DNS / DHCP
  • Maintain our application federation landscape, using products such as Idaptive cloud identity solution.
  • Engage in integration projects and tasks for new acquisitions, as well as projects for divestitures.
  • Complete incidents, requests, and changes using our corporate service management tool for assignment, prioritization, and tracking.
  • Participate in 24x7 on-call escalation, response to alerts from our technology service teams within scope
How will you get here
    • Bachelor s degree in information systems, Computer Science or other technical field is desired.
    • Equivalent direct and applicable professional experience in any IT field may be substituted.
      • Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience in progressive roles in Identity and Access Management
      • Minimum of 6+ years of professional experience in DNS / DHCP, networking, firewall, and cloud technologies
      • Experience in large global enterprises with a diverse array of teams and divisions with unique requirements
      Tool & Technology Skills
      • Experience in IAM solutions such as Active Directory, Virtual Directory Solutions, SSO, MFA, and PAM
      • Experience in Identity Lifecycle Management such as Microsoft Identity Manager, SailPoint, OKTA, PING
      • Experience in automation tools, such as PowerShell, Perl, or even .NET development languages
      • Experience in managing virtualized systems, such as virtual machines in VMWare and Nutanix
      • Experience in Windows Server is required, Linux Server experience a plus
      Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
      • Solid communication and comprehension skills, both written and verbal, are a hard requirement for this position. Must be able to translate technical issues into clear and concise descriptions and explanations that are understandable and actionable for a broad audience with colleagues of varying technical acumen, business function, and from all levels within the organization.
      • Strong analytical skills; being able to work through symptoms and problems logically to timely resolution.
      • Strong customer service skills, and a proven track record of achieving customer excellence
      • Knowledge and understanding of authentication and authorization, including associated protocols
      • Knowledge and understanding of messaging products, such as Exchange and O365
      • Knowledge and understanding of XaaS cloud frameworks, and solutions such as Azure, AWS
      • Ability to work in a global distributed team via collaboration tools such as email, messaging, and conferencing
      • Ability to work well under pressure, and maintaining a sense of calm in challenging situations
      • Ability to effectively prioritize work, and work with multiple projects of varying timelines and constraints
      • A proactive approach to work; monitoring, analyzing, and identifying ways to increase efficiency and reliability
