Job Description

In this role, you will build strong relationships with cross-functional teams and business stakeholders.Major ResponsibilitiesThermo Fisher Scientific is looking for a Information Engineer and Content Management System application administrator to oversee the daily operations and maintenance of the CMS, and play an critical role in the development of strategies for optimal use of content and asset management, access management, workspace management and workflow creation.

  • Be responsible to ensure the designing, managing CCMS application.
  • Participate in planning and execution of tasks related to the evaluation of new upgrade versions, third-party solutions and integrations with other enterprise systems.
  • Perform typical system administrative activities, such as user training, backup, restore, issue resolution, and share best practices with the CCMS user base.
  • Maintain good coordination with CMS support team and internal IT team. Share updates with the CMS users and provide them with required support.
  • The CMS system administrator will guide writers and other users on the best methods to organize archives and organize the content development that is in progress.
  • Maintain current industry knowledge of best practices and procedures for digital asset management.
  • Create and maintain a schedule for all initiatives, and execute tasks on time.
  • Ensure content processes are cost-effective and maximize shared and re-usable resources.
  • Train content producers and share CMS expertise with internal and external teams.
  • Work with translation vendors and other service providers to identify services and options to enhance content quality.
  • Work with other groups to identify content delivery requirements and develop methods and models for future content delivery platforms.
  • Provide technical guidance to the team in the technologies related to the development and support of a CMS.
  • The ideal candidate must be able to work with very little supervision in a highly charged and fast paced environment.
Minimum Requirements or Qualifications
  • Deep knowledge of CCMS systems and knowledge creating workflows to meet the needs.
  • Excellent understanding of DITA standards and content architecture.
  • Proven abilities to help the global team transition to a modular content architecture and identify content reuse opportunities.
  • Ability to work with senior writers and create metadata/taxonomy.
  • Knowledge of translation process and ability to bring efficiency.
  • Skills and experience to build standards that can be adopted by other writing groups.
  • Knowledge of creating XML schema and creating stylesheets for output using XSLT.
  • A minimum of 10-years of experience in a senior technical writing, system administration or similar role.
  • Knowledge of Linux and Windows operating systems.
  • Experience working with asset management system(s) in an administrative capacity.
  • Experience administering a Content Management System.
  • Experience with Active Directory.
