Job Description

JOB SUMMARY The nurse assumes primary responsibility for and provides direct professional nursing care to patients having Cardiac disorders, develops nursing care plans and designates nursing care actions for specific patient needs.NURSING PROCESS

  • Provide safe and high quality renal nursing care appropriate to the specific needs of patients admitted with cardiac problems.
  • Uses nursing process as a framework for caring patients with cardiac diseases such as cardiac failure, CAD, etc caused by diabetes, hypertension, increased cholesterol.
Examines patients psychological, emotional, and physical condition, together with the nursing assessment formUses assessment parameters for determining the status of cardiac functionPossess knowledge of the various diagnostic tests used to determine cardiac function.Assesses treatment needs and develops nursing care plan including such things as patient comfort, coping ability, daily living requirements; developing measurable goals, discharge planning and documents the same in the nurses chartIdentifies patient s problems, symptoms and behavioral changes and reports to physicianCarries out therapeutic treatment prescribed, by the nursing care plan and evaluates response to treatment.Is Knowledgeable about management of ICD/ Invasive devices.Provide direct clinical services for patients, according to established protocols and utilizes evidence-based clinical practice standards under the supervision of the unit head and departmental head.Receives the patient along with the medical records and checks whether all the pre procedure instructions are carried out.Explain the necessity, preparation, nature and anticipated effects of procedure(s) to patients and patients family members.Conducts an individualized patient assessment / screening, prioritizing the data collection based on the patient s immediate condition or needs Documents patient assessment findingsReduces fear and anxiety of the patient by communicating in a gentle manner.Prepares and maintains cath lab for all procedures.Establishes and utilizes a checklist to monitor the equipment for conformity to all standards for ensuring safety for the patient and all personnel.Performs comprehensive nursing assessment on all patients with consideration to clinical condition, pain, activities of daily living, skin allergies, integrity, valuables, safety needs, age, mental, social and physical status etc.Identifies patient problems based upon data collected through nursing assessment (vital signs) as well as integrated information obtained through the family. Takes measures to address any vital concerns compromising the hemodynamic stability and safety issues.Formulates nursing care plan in context to care due, care given, safety first, PFE, diet and other needs in each shift noting patients needs, age, behavior and concerns identified through nursing assessment.Demonstrates knowledge and skills on intubation, extubation and weaning.Possess Knowledge on drug and fluid calculationDemonstrates skill on E.T & Tracheotomy suctioning & handling of high end equipments.Possess Knowledge on management of ICD/ Invasive devices.Ensures unmet needs are handed over to the next shift accurately.Performs appropriate treatments as ordered by physician in an accurate and timely manner,
