Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for Thermal Engineers interested in Modeling and Simulation in the field of Electronics Thermal Management. You will be part of a small focused team with multiple opportunities for career advancement.Basic Function & Scope of Responsibilities:

  • The candidate will spend 50% of time to develop and use tools, scripts, and tests for performing quality assurance (QA) of ElectroFlo, the electronics cooling application developed by Altair.
  • The candidate will work with developers, program manager and application engineers in performing ElectroFlo regression test, verification &validation and documentation.
  • The remaining 50% of the time, the candidate will be given opportunity to directly work with customers to perform proof-of-concept (POC) studies and benchmarking studies.
  • Create realistic use case models relevant to development activity of each release.
  • Create video tutorials for training new users of the software.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Using Altair s issue & project tracking system JIRA, introduce new ElectroFlo bug/RFE tickets, test bug fixes and new feature implementation submitted by developers to existing tickets
  • Take ownership of the robustness of the software
  • Perform testing of ElectroFlo Releases Candidates and Daily Builds
  • Develop and maintain regression tests to determine that the current behavior of the software is consistent with either past behavior or with recent changes introduced by developer
  • Develop and maintain verification &validation tests to determine that the code suite is generating results that are consistent with the mathematical formulation of ElectroFlo and/or experimental results
  • Develop, document and maintain automated testing procedures, tutorials and manuals
  • Perform literature reviews of academic research papers and industrial technical reports in support of verification & validation tests
  • Provide support to application engineers and work with them to develop domain expertise and perform benchmark work in an application area
Skills:
  • Master s degree in Thermal/Mechanical Engineering with Electronics cooling focus or bachelor s degree with 2+yrs of experience in Electronics thermal management
  • Strong knowledge of Heat transfer and Fluid Mechanics
  • Experience with Electronics cooling techniques and competing software packages
  • Experience with Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
  • Good understanding of Object-Oriented programing approach and experience with related major programming languages: Visual basic .NET (preferably), C, C++, etc.
  • Experience with scientific programming
  • Experience with Linux operating system and automation capability
  • Familiarity with thermal challenges in the design on Electronics components
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
Following are a plus:
  • Experience with ECAD & PCB modeling software
  • Experience with High Performance Computing (HPC)
  • Familiarity with Fortran and Visual studio
