Our 2020 revenues reached ~$524 billion. Globally, Walmart employs approximately 2.3 million associates.Our TeamOur team is part of Walmart Canadas ecommerce business ( walmart.ca ). We build our eCommerce solutions to scale to cater to the annual $1B+ online business. Our online business continues to innovate and grow, catering to our Canadian customers. Our teams in Bangalore own, develop and deliver various components of our eCommerce infrastructure independently, while collaborating on critical decisions with our partners in North America. We are constantly innovating to improve the efficiency of our solutions and increase the speed at which we deliver them.Our application tech stack largely comprises Java/Spring based microservices at the back end with a React.js front end. Our systems use AI/ML based decisions in multiple aspects. Other technologies we use commonly are Kafka, CosmosDB, Spark, etc.The RoleWe are looking to hire an Architect for our UI teams.

  • The individual should be a hands on engineer with solid and deep experience in Front End tech stack like ReactJS, EmberJS, NextJS, Node.JS, etc.
  • Able to develop applications and manage build, deploy and operation at scale
  • Interact with other engineering teams across geographies to leverage expertise and contribute to the tech community.
  • Bring in fresh and innovative ideas to improve existing tech stack and speed up delivery
  • Understand and instrument various parts of the system to develop best insights into system performance
  • Lead and mentor the team members in developing and designing system design and architecture.
  • Partner with Product and business teams to understand what we need to promise and deliver to customers
  • Contribute to a highly scalable and performant Walmart.ca eCommerce UI microapps platform to match our exponential growth.
  • Work with other technical leaders to ensure our coding and development processes are scaling and evolving with modern development practices
  • Measuring and improving performance of what is delivered
  • Help teams troubleshoot and find ways to move faster and raise the quality bar
Qualifications
  • A strong value system
  • Engineering Degree (BE/BTech) or higher in CS/CE or related field
  • Complete understanding of development and deployment systems, production architectures
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Extensive experience (15+ years) building web applications using MVC frameworks (Backbone, Angular, NodeJS)
  • Expert level Javascript (ES6), HTML, CSS mastery.
  • Experience on working on large volume system with scale
  • Experience in handling complex production issues
  • Solid understanding of building and integrating with RESTful APIs.
  • Tools for measuring metrics and performance of web front end
  • Strong passion for developing elegant and well-designed frameworks.
  • Desirable: Exposure to Mobile App, frontend development
  • Desirable: Exposure to Azure
  • Desirable: A history of open-source contribution
