Job Description

    • You will research, understand and build the big data, data sharing and analytics strategy for the whole firm.
    • You will design and build the control plane for our snowflake offering to enable the data strategy.
    • You will understand snowflake from both the platform and the application perspective. A data engineer in our team is supposed to be an expert big data solution architect.
    • You will work with flexibility and autonomy while having the full support of the senior members and the firm for your personal and professional growth.
    • You will work on the cutting edge of data processing and analytics, and will be responsible for introducing new architecture patterns and products based on your learnings and experience.
    • You will work on a young but high impact team across the whole data spectrum. You will be doing high level design as well as low level implementation. The products you build will be used by 1000s of application teams across the globe.
    Responsibilities
    • Research and implement solutions for the firms big data and data sharing needs.
    • Design and implement the firms cloud data warehouse strategy.
    • Continuously learn and implement the best practices and new solutions in data processing landscape across batch, streaming, federated data lakes.
    • Work with the application teams on the pilot use cases. Understand their needs and implement those in the platform.
    • Work with the security teams on delivering new use cases in a security compliant way.
    • Work with the product teams in shaping up and prioritizing new features.
    • Design and implement scalable backend systems on Kubernetes and Lambda.
    Requirements
    • 3+ years of Big Data experience across the compute(Spark, Hive), storage(Hdfs, s3), streaming(spark streaming, Kafka), cloud data warehouses(Redshift, BigQuery).
    • 8+ years of software development experience in Java/Scala/Golang/Python(any one of these will suffice). You should have ample experience writing distributed, scalable backends(microservices architecture).
    • RDBMS and NoSQL experience. You should understand the tradeoffs and specific use cases which require one or the other. And also understand the differences between the NoSQL landscape.
    • A good understand of network and application security. We are a regulated bank and security is paramount in every design decision we make.
    • 2+ years of AWS or any other public cloud(GCP or Azure) experience.
    • Proper SDLC experience. We follow a very strict development and deployment methodology. We require it both from a regulatory and a best practice perspective.
    • A quick learner with an extreme ownership mindset. We invest in, and support our people. But we also expect people to be self-driven and to take charge of their deliveries.
    Extra points for existing snowflake and data lake experience.,
