Job Description

This DevOps Quality Assurance Engineer position will work closely with our Cloud Operations team and is responsible for improving the quality of software releases and deployments through automation and tool enhancements. Working in an Agile development environment, the QA Engineer will develop and apply customized testing methodologies to show measurable improvements to the Viewpoint Software products and deployment pipeline. In addition, this person is responsible for automating test cases based on key product workflows that will accelerate testing during integration testing, regression testing, and deployment cyclesDuties and Responsibilities Responsible for day- to- day management of the production platforms based on Windows and UNIX technologies hosted in various Cloud providers. Build and operate systems for a rapidly growing SaaS and Cloud hosting infrastructure.Help identify, resolve and prevent existing and future system bottleneck issuesHelp implement and manage system monitoring, efficiency and performance toolsWork with the Operation team leaders in implementation of the computing infrastructureHelp develop installation and deployment scripts.Implement test tools and automation frameworksCreate and maintain automation scripts for all manual processesHands- on involvement including project planning, design, implementation, and execution of automated tests, defect logging and verification, and reporting resultsDesign and develop quality testing procedures to validate software deployments, integrations, and datacenter infrastructure changesDefine test objectives and collaborate with the QA teams, DevOps team, and Cloud Operations team to achieve project goalsPerform moderately complex functional, regression, network and performance testingProvide metrics and results from all testing efforts that will support business decisions related to the quality of the Viewpoint Software productsSupport the development lifecycle of platform design, deployment and debugging.Works well in a team environment with a strong customer service ethic.Explore concepts, ideas and new technology to create novel solutions to problemsMust be detail- oriented.Accommodate a flexible schedule including off hours and weekend deployment testingAnalyze the impact of new solutions/ enhancements and run appropriate regression testing across multiple productsQualifications Ability to successfully complete project tasks as priorities shift.Demonstrated experience supporting Windows Operating systems in 24x7 Production environments.Deep knowledge of Windows Server (2012 and 2016) tools and administration (AD, DNS, IIS, etc).Solid knowledge of Windows PowerShell.Awareness of system automation strategies using home- grown or automated tools (Puppet, Chef, Terraform or others).Working knowledge of metrics and alerts for uptime performance and usage.Solid experience with Virtual deployments.Network administration including VPN configuration.Solid understanding of networking concepts such as routing, gateways, remote connectivity, etc.Ability to understand the importance of controlling change without delaying deliverables.Ability to draw demarcation points and logically step through complex troubleshooting scenarios.Ability to directly work with peer groups (spread globally), customers and vendors to understand needs and requirements.Excellent verbal and written communications including documentation.Driven and self- motivated to learn new technologies and achieve objectives.Ability to work independently.Ability to multitask.Good organization skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Capable of clearly articulating ideas.Able to express opinions in an environment of open communication.Able to challenge conventional practicesPreferred Skills and Experience Proven Cloud infrastructure administration for AWS, Azure, Rackspace, Cloudstack, Openstack or other providers in Production environments with GUI or API- based deployment.PaaS web and database configuration and deployment.Network load balancing (NLB, NGinX, HAProxy, ELB and others).Proven experience with Systems Automation tools for standardizing server builds.Experience with continuous integration.Working understanding of source control (VSTS, AzureDevOps, GIT, etc.) in a development environment.Working understanding of code branching.Experience using deployment tools (VSTS, Release Management, Jenkins and others).SQL (or other database) Server configuration, backup and maintenance.Monitoring system configuration (Datadog, CloudWatch, New Relic, Pingdom, etc).Remind me to apply later,
