Job Description

    Role Overview:You will be responsible for interpreting, organizing, executing, budgeting, and coordinating complex assignments in the field of electrical engineering. You will plan and develop projects that address unique or controversial problems with significant impacts on major CDM Smith programs. It will be your duty to maintain liaisons with individuals and units within or outside the organization and act independently on technical matters pertaining to your specialty field. You will also represent CDM Smith in conferences to resolve important questions and coordinate work effectively. Additionally, you must adhere to CDM Smiths Core values, Ethics & Code of professional conduct, and demonstrate familiarity with compliance aspects.Key Responsibilities:- Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing large and important projects or several small projects with many complex features- Visualizing and assuming responsibility for new business development activities within your area of expertise- Utilizing advanced techniques and expertise to modify and extend theories, precepts, and practices of Electrical design- Supervising and coordinating the work of CADD Operators, technicians, and others assisting in specific assignments- Leading medium to large-scale electrical design projects involving power distribution, lighting, communications, fire alarm, and security systems design- Reviewing shop drawings and assisting with general construction services- Developing design criteria, specifications, and standards- Conducting short circuit, coordination, and arc flash studies using power systems analysis software- Planning, investigating, and conducting work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and adaptation of standard techniques and procedures- Participating in new business development by establishing and monitoring budgets to assess profitability- Keeping updated on ongoing changes in the field of Electrical engineering and motivating junior-level staff- Performing project management functions for small and moderate-sized projects- Planning, developing, coordinating, and directing large and important projects or a project of major scope and complexity- Conceiving, planning, and conducting research in problem areas of considerable scope and complexity- Demonstrating good communication skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office SuiteQualifications Required:- Bachelors or Masters degree in electrical engineering- Minimum 5 years of experience in detailed design for high voltage substation projects through 345kV, including protective relay schemes, relay schematics, grounding and lightning protection design, AC/DC systems, specification of substation outdoor equipment, SCADA and other communication systems, etc.- Knowledge of NESC- Experience with reviewing the drawings/models developed using RevitPreferred Qualifications:- Masters degree in Electrical Engineering- Working knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NFPA 70)- Experience in designing electrical systems for water/wastewater and other industrial/facilities projects- Professional Engineering certification from accredited agencies- Experience with reviewing the drawings/models developed using RevitAmount of Travel Required:0%Note: CDM Smith Inc. reserves the right to conduct background checks and drug testing for certain positions.
