Job Description

    Job Title: ETP OperatorDepartment: Environment, Health & Safety (EHS) / Utilities Location: Irungattukottai Reports To: ETP In-charge / Plant Manager / EHS ManagerJob Summary:The ETP Operator is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the Effluent Treatment Plant to ensure that the industrial wastewater is treated in compliance with environmental and safety regulations. The role includes maintaining records, performing routine checks, and assisting with preventive and corrective maintenance.Key Responsibilities:
    • Operate and monitor all equipment and processes in the ETP, including pumps, valves, aerators, clarifiers, filters, and dosing systems.
    • Ensure proper dosing of chemicals (e.g., coagulants, flocculants, pH adjusters) as per standard operating procedures (SOPs).
    • Record operational data such as flow rates, chemical consumption, pH, TDS, COD, BOD, and other relevant parameters.
    • Conduct routine sampling and testing of influent and effluent water to ensure compliance with legal discharge limits.
    • Perform preventive maintenance and basic troubleshooting on plant equipment.
    • Coordinate with the maintenance team for any major repairs or breakdowns.
    • Ensure the safe storage and handling of treatment chemicals.
    • Maintain housekeeping in and around the ETP area.
    • Comply with environmental, health, and safety regulations and standards.
    • Maintain daily logs and prepare monthly reports on ETP operation and compliance.
    Qualifications and Skills:
    • Education: ITI / Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering or relevant field.
    • Experience: 13 years of experience in operating ETP/STP (preferably in manufacturing, chemical, pharmaceutical, or textile industries).
    • Skills:
    • Knowledge of wastewater treatment processes (physical, chemical, and biological).
    • Familiar with handling chemicals and safety practices.
    • Basic understanding of environmental regulations (e.g., PCB norms, CPCB guidelines).
    • Ability to read technical manuals and process diagrams.
    Working Conditions:
    • Work involves exposure to wastewater, chemicals, and noisy environments.
    • Must be able to work in shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
    • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.
