Job DesciptionGenetic counselors should provide a critical service to individuals and families considering undergoing genetic testing by helping them identify their risks for certain disorders, investigate family health history, interpret information and determine if testing is needed. The genetic counseling process helps people understand and adapt to the medical, psychological and familial implications of genetic contributions to disease. They may provide general care or specialize in one or more areas, including: Prenatal and preconception: For women and their partners who are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnantPediatric: For children and their family membersCancer: For patients with cancer and their family membersCardiovascular: For patients with diseases of the heart or circulatory system and their family membersNeurology: For patients with diseases of the brain and nervous system and their family membersIn addition to counseling, genetic counselors also communicate with laboratories about the tests they offer, advocating for patients with their insurance companies and notifying patients about their test results. Responsibilities: Represent Medical Affairs providing clinical expertise in interactions with Marketing, Business Development, Client Services, Case Investigation and Resolution, Clinical Affairs, Operations, Regulatory, Quality. Become a subject matter expert in testing technologyResource for clinical and technical questions related to testing for existing and prospective clientsAnalyze medical and scientific literature, clinical outcomes of published studies and effectively communicate knowledge within and outside the organizationAssist department leadership in setting strategic directionSurvey published literature for relevant publications, review and report internally. Qualifications: Bachelors degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical with certification of Genetic counselling. Master s degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Biomedical with at least 1- 2 years of practice in the prenatal setting or other relevant practice experience preferred,
