PURPOSE OF THE ROLE The position is responsible to lead strategic communications for the allocated allied businesses within the Mahindra Group; drive internal and external communications for both domestic as well as international operations, in order to effectively build and strengthen the organizational brand and safeguard its reputation.Responsibilities: BUSINESS PARTNERING - Understand strategy and business objectives of allocated allied businesses as per the agreement reached with the individual businesses - Develop communications strategies aligned to the business objectives; Create annual and quarterly execution plans for each business - Monitor external environmental conditions, business and competition in order to provide insights and strategic counsel to business leaders - Conduct periodic reviews of initiatives run by competitors; Stay current on industry trends and exceptional content marketing methods - Liaison with external monitoring agency to drive suitable analytics of all media coverage and take counter measures for improvement of favorability scores - Lead the brand and all external communication for all allied businesses globally - Define strategic priorities as well as execute plans thereof, in terms of generating and handling media requests, curating and editing media stories, creating awareness campaigns, etc. - Preempt crisis situations and ensure implementation of SOP for crisis management, along with the Communications Business Partner - Cluster Head, Global Communications Leader and concerned Business Head - Work with internal teams and external agencies to edit press releases, company literature, and articles for external use in order to ensure high quality and that insights received from past analysis have been incorporated GROUP MESSAGING & BUSINESS ADVOCACY - Monitor and review all platforms of communications as per Group Communication guidelines (brand language and marketing guidelines) - Review design process for both internal as well as external communication initiatives carried out by the external agency - Collaborate with the Head - Group Communications to identify and leverage business / region level communication that can be amplified at Group level, and vice versa - Drive move towards making communication 360 degree through PESO model at the business level in line with the Group Communications EXECUTIVE COUNSEL - Lead external communication for the CEO and other company spokespersons across business - Manage company and industry events involving senior leaders; Research and develop briefing documents and question banks for media interviews; Curate and distribute relevant speaker quotes on the basis of new announcements in their relevant industry with agencies - Drive thought leadership by the CEO on agreed agenda through media appearances, authored articles, speaker quotes, etc. - Manage media requests from tv channels and publications, in terms of timing, topic, relevance, co-participants, questions, appearance, mannerisms, etc. and facilitate relationship meetings of senior stakeholders with media - Create opportunities for spokespersons to highlight business performance and Mahindra ethos at relevant forums. - Define the media training policy (with an external training agency) and drive company spokespersons training and refresher courses EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDER MANAGEMENT - Build and nurture key influencer relationships in business, industry and media circles creating opportunities in the market under the wider umbrella of Mahindra Rise - Build strategy for increasing media visibility of the business across all benchmarks through direct contact with media organizations as well as agency intervention - Enhance corporate image across various stakeholder communities, like influencers, investors, etc. - Plan influencer-driven communication for increased utilization of digital and social media KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS Education Qualifications Graduate in fields related to Media / Journalism, MBA (preferred) Experience 15 plus years of work experience in social media, communications, journalism or related industries, preferably with an agency. Prior experience of working in the sector is desirable.
