Senior Software Reliability Engineer - Ansible on AzurePosting Location : Location US-RemotePosting date 3 hours ago(7/26/2022 6:02 AM)Job ID 96036 Workday ID R-026361 Category Software Engineering About the job The Red Hat Ansible Engineering team is looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Reliability Engineer to join our Ansible on Clouds Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team. In this role, you will work as part of a team of highly talented software engineers whose mission it is to grow the Red Hat cloud offering for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform. Using your expertise in SRE principles of automation and continuous improvement, you will help create an environment where availability, reliability, and security will be incorporated through the entire application life cycle, not treated as an afterthought. You will write new software as required to automate the building, testing, deployment, promotion, monitoring, alerting, and maintenance of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform on Microsoft Azure. You will get an opportunity to collaborate with diverse agile teams around the world to deliver value for our customers and partners in an open source way. You will work with communities passionate about open source software. The Red Hat office in Durham, NC is the preferred work location, but well-qualified home-based engineers will also be considered. Successful applicants must reside in a state where Red Hat is registered to do business. What you will do
• Develop and maintain software to automatically provision, upgrade, monitor, and heal Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform managed applications in Microsoft Azure
• Write Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform Playbooks to reduce toil
• Support the operations of Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform by responding to and troubleshooting system alerts
• Provide engineering support to Red Hats global technical support team to resolve customer issues
• Perform root cause analyses on outages and work with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform engineering teams to improve the overall cloud offering
• Participate in a global on-call rotation, including periodic weekend and holiday on-call duties
What you will bring
• Software development experience using a general purpose language; Python or GoLang are a plus
• Linux administration experience; Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Fedora are a plus
• Knowledge of Kubernetes and networking
• Basic knowledge of software development life cycle tools like GitHub and Jenkins
• Software development life cycle (SDLC) and agile or scrum processes
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
• Experience supporting a customer-facing service
• Basic knowledge of monitoring systems
• Passion for learning new technologies, building elegant software systems, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and automation
Experience with the following is considered a plus:
• Writing Ansible Playbooks and administering the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
• cloud-native development and administration experience; Microsoft Azure is a plus
• Operations with a production user-facing application
• Working as part of a globally distributed, remote team
• Operations support system (OSS) contributions
• Microsoft Azure and Azure Resource Manager templates
