POSITION PURPOSEThis role will support both our Cloud environments as well as our VMWare / Windows based server infrastructure. Youll be a thorough, methodical specialist with a fundamental commitment to security, automation, and quality. Youll thrive on bringing automation to routine tasks and continuously raising the quality of the service you provide you won t be happy with the status quo.The Infrastructure Engineer will focus on managing and automating changes, responding to events, and defining standards to successfully manage daily operations. The ideal candidate will be cross skilled in supporting and maintaining Infrastructure systems including Linux, Windows Server, VMware, SAN, Cloud PAAS, SAAS (AWS, Azure, Office365) environments. You ll be someone who gets a kick out of being a critical member of a high performing team, personally producing outcomes that accelerates IDPs agenda to support students in their life-long study journey. RESPONSIBILITIES

• Working within the Infrastructure Team to support a diverse range of infrastructure across the IDP business including server hardware, Microsoft Enterprise Solutions, Network technologies, Service virtualization, and Cloud technologies, Active Directory, ADFS, Azure AD, and AWS.
• Automate IDP Platform Operations, by driving scripting operations procedures and automation.
• Ensuring Best Practices - You will continuously review our environment against Best Practice standards. You ll make recommendations and improvements in a structured and methodical manner.
• Utilize scripting to provision well-architected and rightsized infrastructure.
• Drive IDP security practices across the IDP business. We are entrusted with the personal information of students, and we take this extremely seriously. With every other member of the team, you ll be an expert voice in ensuring that Security and Privacy are a fundamental part of every design and deliverable.
• Participate in the design and personally deliver infrastructure including compute, network and storage components.
• Implement automation to deploy patching and routine maintenance across all IDP Infrastructure.
• Maintain your knowledge on best practices, evolving threats, and opportunities to improve the performance, agility and cost-effectiveness of the program.
• Routine Monitoring and Reporting - You ll review these regularly with the IS/Infrastructure leadership.
• Participate in high-profile Delivery Projects - You will work in a virtual team with the Development, Support, Testing and Service Desk to ensure the delivery of high-quality services and applications.
• You are continuously learning and extending your knowledge of best practices and the business value of technology innovations.
• Strong communications skills both written and verbal. You ll be relied on by leadership and other technical specialists for advice and direction you must be able to communicate clearly and accurately.

WHAT WERE LOOKING FOR

• Windows operating system experience (Server and Desktop)
• Experience with Windows Active Directory
• Linux operating system experience (highly desirable)
• Knowledge of Oracle and SQL databases and applications (highly desirable)
• SAAS environments e.g. ServiceNow, Office 365, Azure, AzureAD, Amazon AWS
• Experience in monitoring and auditing systems
• Knowledge of Containerization technologies (e.g. Kubernetes, Docker)
• Ability to estimate usage costs and identify operational cost control mechanisms
• Customer service skills - Interpersonal skills, particularly negotiation and facilitation, to recognize staff needs and ways to satisfy them and maintain good relations with IDP staff and suppliers
• Demonstrates strong customer understanding and focus
• Highly developed communication skills for dealing with enquiries and supporting staff in IT
• Ability to elicit and define requirements from varying sources
• Drive delivery in line with business needs
• Bachelors or master s in Computer Science or other relevant disciplines.
• At least 3-5 years experience in an Infrastructure role with experience/knowledge of the AWS Cloud Platform.
• Previous experience delivering systems within a commercial environment with operational, performance, security and availability requirements.
• Experience working under pressure and organizing work priorities
• An understanding of the Education sector
