Job Title: Manager, Chemistry (R&D)Reports To: Director, R&DJob Location: SIPCOT, Irungatukottai, Sriperambadur, Chennai.Job Summary:The Manager, Chemistry will be responsible for leading a technical team on new product development (NPD) and sustaining product engineering for key product categories. Moderate amount of travel may be required. This position will:Provide technical oversight of design and development of new products via New Product Development Stage-Gate process Manage Sr. Chemists, Chemists/ Engineers and R&D Analysts Require the ability to work effectively with other disciplines including Marketing, Industrial Design, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and Innovation & Advanced Technology.Completes projects by scheduling/assigning employees and following up on work to ensure overall program success. Reviews project proposals and plans to develop technical project objectives. Develops and manages timing and action plan for projects of significant scope for self, team members, and/or direct reports to ensure projects to deliver on time, cost, and quality. Proposes critical activities to execute program objectives. Applies data as a subject matter expert (SME) in cross-functional teams to pursue creative solutions to business-critical challenges and roadblocks. Reviews customer feedback to determine necessary action plans to resolve. Champions brainstorming and ideation sessions to develop product solutions. Prepares project status and communicates risks to upper management with proper level of detail and recovery plans to gain alignment from management. Investigates mitigation strategies to ensure the best outcome for the company. Coordinates efficient meetings to establish cadence and techniques. Leads forums to encourage ideation and technical sharing. Administers strategy and vision to support change agenda as it pertains to the department. Validates product test methodology and performance to review test results. Partners with Marketing to build an innovation funnel by studying market trends, competitive products, reviews of technology, and end user needs.Qualification:Bachelors degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. 9 years of NPD experience required. 3 years people management experience preferred. Demonstrates ability to effectively lead people and mentor and develop employees. Demonstrates proven project management skills including scoping, schedule management, and documentation. Demonstrates work experience in a team environment with good communication skills. Demonstrates evidence of strong problem solving skills including identifying problems, potential problems, and developing solutions.
