Manager - Data Scientist & Operations Research

Role Overview:Born out of FedEx, a pioneer in shipping nearly 20 million packages a day, FedEx ACC is focused on connecting the physical and digital aspects of the network to address current needs and future challenges. The organization aims to create opportunities for FedEx, its customers, and the global community by exploring and utilizing data, breaking down barriers between datasets, developing valuable solutions, driving curiosity and performance, and ultimately making supply chains more efficient for all.Key Responsibilities:- Take ownership and responsibility for major data science and operations research initiatives- Lead a team focused on modeling and development in support of operations, strategic programs, and new products- Utilize advanced descriptive, diagnostic, predictive, prescriptive, and ensemble modeling techniques, along with sophisticated statistical and mathematical tools- Manage projects, develop end-to-end solutions, and drive business results through proofs-of-value and production-ready solutions- Ensure solutions align with API-First / Architecture principles and advance innovative tools within ACC projects and products- Apply knowledge of ML Ops, CI/CD processes, and data engineering practices to ensure sustainable model development and offer recommendations for complex problems- Provide consultation and thought leadership to senior management- Mentor team members, collaborate with multi-functional teams, and contribute to achieving business goalsQualification Required:- Technical background in computer science, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, statistics, or other quantitative and computational science- Expertise in relevant FedEx standards, external requirements, and managerial areas- Demonstrated track record in Data Science / Engineer expertise, designing and deploying large-scale technical solutions- Experience with Cloud technologies for implementing data scientific methods at scale- Ability to deliver technical projects with teams under tight time constraints- Strong theoretical grounding in data science principles and advanced mathematical concepts- Proficiency in agile and devops practices, including CI/CD, process improvement, and quality management- Extensive knowledge of common languages and tools in data science, statistical analysis, and machine learning- Leadership experience in planning, consulting, and multi-functional project teams- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management, and software development skillsAdditional Details:N/A Role Overview:Born out of FedEx, a pioneer in shipping nearly 20 million packages a day, FedEx ACC is focused on connecting the physical and digital aspects of the network to address current needs and future challenges.
