Job Description

Job Title : Middle Office - Assistant Manager Job Location : ChennaiException Management on T0 controlso Investigate mismatch or missing allocations on T0 (including Cash Equities, Convertible Bonds), identify root cause of issue. Depending on whether it is internal or client side action required, propose immediate solutions and coordinate with relevant stakeholders to execute them on timely manner.o Identify and escalate high-risk items which will cause financial or reputational risk to the firm to the front office and management.o Raise reoccurring theme in exceptions and their root cause. For exceptions which require internal system change, propose systematic solutions to remediate them in the long run to IT and change management teams. For exceptions related to external client, identify impact to Barclays and escalate to manager and work with business and operations management for appropriate action.Client Serviceo Respond to post execution trade queries from clients, including but not limited to Standard Settlement Instruction set up, allocation, brokerage charge and commission, tax etc. Deliver quality service to clients and enhance their experience with Barclayso Deliver client request on timely manner and manage their expectationso Ability to resolve client complaints independently and escalate exceptional cases to management when requiredPost Execution Trade Processingo Generate termsheets for OTC flow products and client invoicing according to commission sharing agreemento Prematch settlement details on Convertible Bonds and follow up on failed trades with internal departments, client and front office for timely resolutionReportingo Produce control reports and circulate to relevant stakeholderso Prepare the commend on regular MI relating to volumes and risk of the Cash Equities and Convertible BondsQuery Managemento Address and respond to, in a timely mannerThese interactions will be with a wide range of areas, both from front office (Sales and Trading) and Operations partnersWhat will you be doing

  • Ensure all exceptions are accurately actioned and communicated clearly and in a timely manner to avoid any potential risk
  • Candidate is expected to work independently and make routine decisions in clearing exceptions and assist junior member of the team. In case areas of concern are identified, escalate to team manager and the business as necessary, while attempting to implement both short term and long term resolutions if the problem is re-occurring.
  • The candidate is required to have solid communication skills in order to explain and cooperate with internal stakeholders who work outside of client service and securities operations area in an effective manner. Also candidate require to deliver with impact on current issues to AVP and above individuals across the firm.
  • The role will also require close contact with various Ops teams, IT and the front office
The role is suitable for candidates who are detail oriented with strong communication both written and verbal skills. Additionally, a comprehensive understanding of derivatives and ability to multi task and work under pressureWhat we re looking for:
  • Degree level or appropriate industry qualifications with at least 2+ years within a similar / comparable banking environment
  • Extensive knowledge of the front to back process in an environment of investment banking in order to effect process enhancements
  • Solid understanding of operational risks, ability to spot and articulate issues to senior stakeholders, and escalate in a timely manner
  • Proven ability to build, maintain and enhance relationships at all levels including interacting effectively with other key areas within the bank e.g. Technology, broader global Middle office and front office stakeholders and Ops Control.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS office Suite, specifically Excel. Knowledge of Vlookups and Pivot tables is essential; Macro s and VBA knowledge would be beneficial.
