Job Description

    Technicon Design specialises in Recruitment, Studio Design and Academy Services with international market experience in transportation design. For over 44 years, Technicon Design has delivered customised solutions and maintained strategic partnerships with some of the worlds biggest brands.In 2023 Technicon Design opened up their latest Design Studio situated in Chennai, India to cater for Automotive project work within our vast Design services specialty sector. We are currently working with an associated Mobility client in delivering the designs for future transportation requirements and subsequently are looking for a Digital Designer within Class A / CAS surfacing development to work within the creation of our mobility products.Role Requirements:Digital Designer/sculptor - Class A / CAS development for final releases ensuring design vision.Be competent in generating complex and high quality digital automotive surface models according to designer specifications from. sketches, renderings, concept designs and scan data.Create & Develop surface data according to packaging information and technical specifications. Ensure quality standards are achievedAutomotive surfaces range from early concept to production Class-A levelWork cross functionally together with engineering, sourcing and vendor partners to incorporate all feasibility criteriaGenerate and verify a surface model for release for tool, provide feedback reports and action plan for the sameGenerate feedback mechanisms of new and existing data to present and review current data models with managementLeads program surface progression of Design and surface expert evaluationLeads cross-system surface execution to ensure full system surface compatibility with A surface excellenceConfirms all program surface interfaces are Designed-in-Context to a coordinated data set including supplier dataDevelops and maintains a coordinated Class A surface database and required changesIn the database systemMaintain program product structure and part history in database release system to accurately represent evolution of design and change controlFacilitate program surface progression through the theme feasibility process.Develop and assist Class A Surface in the delivery of feasible math surfaces aligned with program milestones requirements that delivers design intentDevelop Surfaces necessary to support the theme and feasibility development process up to and including final Class A production prove-out and tooling release.It is anticipated that applicants will possess around 4 - 8 years experience of having worked on the designs for the mobility sector 2 Wheel, Automotive, Aviation or similar.Software Skills Required:AliasSubDBlenderRhinoCatiaMust define and drive the attention to detail, flush, gap fit and finish with tolerancesStrong ability to create production math models (i.e. die pulls, draft angles, stitching, part breakups, etc.) defining & using high tolerance specifications.Possess expertise in rapid prototyping, Surfacing Class A, Surfacing Class B, Animation and AliasAdditional Information:This position is advertised as being based On-Site, rather than Remote working situated in Chennai, India.Applicants will be expected to provide a Portfolio of Design examples to enhance their Resume at the point of further contact by our Recruitment team whom will shortlist applicants for the role.
