He/ she measures success against the best internal and external benchmarks.Position profile Principal Engineer Responsibilities and duties A software Principal engineer position in the R&D department with primary responsibilities to architect , design, develop and maintain embedded software for a suite of next generation power tools used in surgeries. The engineer works closely with peers in software engineering, software quality assurance and project and product management to develop software that meets customer and system requirements. Following defined design practices and the use of sound software engineering principles, the engineer ensures that the software products are safe, robust and user friendly.Responsible for architecture of medical products leveraging innovative solutions to design reliable and safe products Technically leads a team of embedded engineers to develop high quality embedded Software. Responsible for Embedded SW architecture and design Responsible for technically guiding a team of embedded engineers to design, code in C and C++, debug and test the code. Work closely with HW engineers on a new board which may have HW issues also Follows the company s standards for code development and quality process and complies with quality management system procedures Participates in software planning and estimating activities on a macro (e.g. block diagram from project start to finish) up to a micro level (task level on a day by day basis for the sprints) Identifies root causes of issues, determines potential solutions, and evaluates them against requirements Ensures the integrity and security of patient health information, company intellectual property, and confidential data Responsible for delivering his work in defined timelines while achieving product quality goals Works closely and collaboratively with other members of the development team (includes collaborating on the overall SW architecture and deployment plan) in a fast- paced team environment Experience/ skills required B.Tech in electronics, electrical, computer science or related engineering curriculum.Mandatory:13 + years of hands on experience on embedded SW development using both C and C++ Product development experience with hands on experience of launching 2 to 3 products in the market Experience of finalizing architecture of products including HW , SW and integration with mechanical . Architect, Design and development of firmware for microcontrollers HW board level debugging and troubleshooting skills Verification experience: Logical test case creation Unit, integration and system testing. Test script development. Able to understand interdependencies and relationships among many software components and between several software products.
