Job Description

Summary:The Payments Engineering organization builds and maintains the highly scalable, available, secure, and compliant payments platform of PayPal. This platform helps PayPals consumers and merchants to move and manage their money efficiently. The Post-Processing Payments Platform is part of the Payments Engineering organization and works in tandem with the Realtime Payments Processing platform and various other upstream and downstream systems within and outside of PayPal. The mission of this team is to build a scalable, performant, cloud-aware post-processing payments platforms such as clearing, settlement, cost and data platforms which enables straight-through processing for all tenants and all instruments at an optimized and transparent processing cost. About the Role This role is to lead the Post-Processing Payments Platform engineering team.   • Lead a 120-member engineering team situated across India, Singapore, and US.
  • Member of the payments engineering staff who help define the organizational culture, talent strategy and operational excellence charter of the Payments Engineering Team.
  • An active participant within the India site leadership team to help shape the culture of the sites in India.
Key Responsibilities
  • Build and own the Post-Processing Payments platforms long-term vision.
  • Define, track, and deliver quarterly and annual goals of the platform and Objectives and Key Responsibilities (OKRs).
  • Deliver key platform goals such as scalability, availability, performance, quality, cost transparency and transaction expense savings.
  • Formulate and own the data and AI/ML charter for the post-processing functions.
  • Define, own, and deliver to the cloud adoption journey for the organization.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across engineering teams within PayPal, with product owners, analytics teams, and business stakeholders.
  • Build a strong network with peers and other senior leaders within the company to help further the platform vision.
  • Collaborate with core platform and infrastructure leadership team to address the infrastructure needs for payments solutions.
  • Periodically travel within and outside India (Singapore & U.S.) to influence stakeholders and build relationships.
  • Understand the payments business and how technology decisions impact the business.
  • Be a hands-on engineering leader, who can help the team with design and architectural tradeoffs, as well as setting up strong quality and operational excellence standards.
  • Lead large development teams building high performant, secure, scalable cost effective back-end applications, good understanding of deployment methods.
  • Proven experience in both real time online transaction processing systems as well as non-real time asynchronous processing.
  • Proven experience working with large scale database management systems and experience working with various database technologies.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of engineering initiatives to create desired value.
  • Build, nurture, and grow the engineering team to deliver relevant features and capabilities, while helping them growth their career at PayPal.
  • Be constantly involved in the growth of team members and provide regular and constructive feedback and coaching as needed. Handle performance management, hiring and talent development processes.
  • Own and track organizational budget across various categories such as employee costs, infrastructure costs, cap-credit, employee engagement, travel etc.
  • Enable the team for success by focusing on diversity, inclusion, collaboration, and customer centric mindset.

Qualifications
  • 20+ years of experience in software development, building large-scale distributed systems, managing high-volume websites and web services, and developing technical organizations.
  • Experience in Payments systems, and cloud-based architectures is a plus.
