Job Description

General information:The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 1500 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energys units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than80 countries.Responsibilities:As the PQS Electrical engineering (Secondary Design) is being continuously involved with great deal of Electrical, Domain expertise is required. Thus, the job description is as below.

  • Coordinate & lead multiple/complex projects within budget by meeting all KPIs (Quality, OTD, Efficiency, Budget)
  • Design & execute the project in line with customer specification / FACTS standard/Global standards Viz IEC, ANSI, IEEE etc
  • Reviews and approves scope, budget and schedule for assignments and ensures quality deliverables
  • Completes risk and opportunity assessments and ensures implementation of resulting actions in ones area of responsibility
  • Creates work plans and cost estimates in ones area of responsibility
  • Provides cost effective quality solutions as per customer requirement and delivers within budget and contract. Ensures adherence to safety standards and mitigation of potential risks
  • Interacts with customers, officials, contractors and others. Attends project meetings and presents specific aspects of engineering assignments
  • Tender execution as per customer/FACTS requirement
  • Preparation of Manufacturing documents for cubicles
  • Preparation of FACTS Plant design drawings (Secondary)
  • Designing and estimation of Aux. AC & DC power requirements.
  • Designing of LV, MV Switch boards including battery systems, UPS and Voltage stabilizers
  • Estimation & Sizing of LV Aux. power, control cables, communication cables & Indication cables
  • Preparation of Specification and Request for Proposal documents for Cubicles, Cable, Junction boxes, Aux. system etc,
  • Purchasing of cubicles, cables, Junction boxes, AC & DC switch boards, MV Switchgear, Battery system, UPS & Voltage stabilizers etc.
  • Co-ordination with other departments (Mech. / Control / System Design/Commissioning)
  • Review and coordination with vendor/supplier drawings for Electrical deliverables including primary equipment
  • Evaluation of sub-supplier and selection as per project requirement
  • Involving in customer FAT according to project demand
  • Involving in Site and commissioning support as per requirement
  • Involving in development and supporting activities for continuous process improvements
  • Preparation of As Built Drawings
  • Development, Training & mentorship for Junior resources
Your background:Bachelors in B.E/ B.tech in Electrical & Electronics or EEE. Should have 15+ years of experience. Must have experience in Substation Project Execution, Secondary Engineering and Control & Protection Design, EPC Project execution. Commissioning with Protection Relay configuration & Testing experience will be added advantage. Good to have HVDC or FACTS control & protection design.
