Job Description

  • As a Software Development Engineer Framework, you will be part of a team that owns critical Android framework and back-end services, working on projects that push the boundaries of customer-device interaction.
  • You will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff to conceive and design innovative consumer products. You must be responsive, flexible and able to succeed within an open collaborative peer environment.
  • You will take the lead in designing solutions to hard problems in the Android and Amazon ecosystem.
  • You will work closely with the platform, app, and service teams to drive the development from the concept stage to the launch stage.
In this role, you will:
  • Be responsible for system architecture and development of new features for Amazon devices
  • Investigate, prototype and deliver new and innovative system solutions
  • Up-level existing software components to next versions of Android
  • Participate in design reviews, API development, and documentation
  • Work with new technologies that are vital to product development
  • Deliver investigation plans and reports, architectural documents, design specs, software and firmware source code, build scripts
  • Perform tasks including debug, bring-up, Beta and production software development
  • Successfully collaborate with both software and hardware product teams
  • Develop/Mentor younger team members so that they could deliver better
,BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor s degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 5+ years of software development engineering experience, with at least 3 year of experience developing embedded applications
  • 5+ years of experience in design and architecture, as well as familiarity with object oriented design patterns
  • 5+ years of experience in coding in C/C++ and/or Java
  • Experience in Computer Science fundamentals: object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem solving, and complexity analysis
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master s or Ph.D degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Understanding performance and memory in Android/Linux and embedded development constraints
  • Extensive knowledge of Android framework
  • Extensive experience working on consumer electronics products
  • Strong shell and Python scripting skills
  • Robust project planning/execution skills including estimating, scheduling and executing on committed schedules
  • Highly effective and thrive in a dynamic environment with multiple, changing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal communication skill, including verbal, written, listening, and customer relationships
  • Can mentor other software developers to maintain architectural vision and software quality
  • Comfortable taking initiative and working across teams
  • Excellence in technical communication with peers, partners, and non-technical co-workers
