Job Description

As a Software Development Engineer in Test on Alexa Devices team, you will engage with an experienced cross-disciplinary staff and participate in new design and architectural choices which have a significant impact on our systems, our business and most importantly, our customers. You should have a combination of solid in-depth knowledge of Quality Assurance, solid understanding of computer science principles, as well as knowledge of how to architect software for maximum longevity.Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to the automated test frameworks and test suites for use in development and testing cycles
  • Review product user interface for conformity to design guidelines and functionality
  • Find, isolate, document, regress, and track bugs through resolution
  • Interpret and report testing results, and be a vocal proponent for quality in every phase of the development process
  • Work with Software Development Engineers to understand the overall technical architecture and how each feature is implemented.
  • Create test plans and test cases. Perform manual testing, the scope of which will encompass all functionality of services to as a prequel to automation
  • Participating in design and code inspections

  • Bachelor s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field
  • 5+ years relevant work experience
  • 3+ years of programming experience in, at least, one modern programming language such as Python, C, C++ or Java
  • 3+ years of experience automating test cases
  • 3+ years of experience with testing methodologies
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations
  • Experience developing in a Linux environment
  • Experience with web services and databases, preferably Oracle
  • Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and management to collect requirements, describe software product features, and technical designs
  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners
