Global Fraud Risk, is a PayPal unit specializing in developing application, best-of-breed fraud-detection solutions & cutting-edge technologies which are integrated into scalable & distributed systems that process tens of millions of events daily, evaluating fraud within hundreds of milliseconds, processing billions of dollars annually. We are looking for a motivated technologist to solve customer problems and able to deliver a solutions in scalable way, which believes in software craftsmanship, clean and elegant coding, using the right tool for the job, and always exploring and learning new technologies and approaches. We are looking for a talented technologist to help us strengthen our world class risk prevention and mitigation systems in order to successfully combat cybercrime. The P2P team is responsible for fraud detection, risk management and regulatory compliance services across PayPal, specializing in money movement between users. We facilitate this money movement by designing, implementing, and supporting systems that detect patterns that might indicate fraudulent activity when users use PayPal to send money. In this versatile role, you will be responsible for helping shape the future of mission critical risk systems by using a combination of analytical, technical, and communication skills. You will be collaborating closely with engineering, product and operations to design and develop features for our highly complex and heavily distributed risk environment. Our engineers build strong competencies in data structures and algorithms, along with a deep understanding of business processes.Responsibilities:Responsible for providing technical leadership, define engineering best practices and work with Engineering and Product counterparts across the organization.Lead multiple complex business domains and lead engineering strategy and innovation for these domains.Lead and Mentor engineers, work with managers and operations to ensure that systems meets reliability, accuracy and performance goals.Drive both technology and product innovation through rapid prototyping and iterative development.Innovate in Shopping, Personalization, Incentives and Rewards space to improve overall efficacy and efficiencies using state of the art technologies (machine learning, block chain and others)Collaborates with leadership across the board to effectively to deliver solutions and projects.Work with remote geographic and cross functional teams to build quality and timely solutions.Responsible for developing multi-year engineering development strategy and products roadmap, including architecture blueprintDrive engineering excellency through CI/CD/test automationEngineer stable, performant systems by proactively discovering and mitigating production issuesDrive engineering excellency by creating reusable, production-ready frameworksRequirements:10+ years of experience in product platform design, engineering/architectural leadership for FinTech and eCommerce, consumer facing platforms engineering teams.Deep hands on experience in complex system design, object oriented system design, scale, performance tuning in Java and related technologies.Deep hands on experience in API design, REST, RPC and micro-service architecture.Deep hands on experience in variety of software stacks/technologies including but not limited to Java, JavaScript, Python, Kafka, and various SQL and noSQL databases and cloud services.Demonstrated experience with BigData technologies (Hadoop ecosystem, Spark and others).Demonstrated experience in building product platform as-a-service, SaaS and multi-tenant deployments.Demonstrated experience in solving complex business problems using AI / ML technologies is a plusStrong system and data flow knowledge.
