Job Description

Role Overview:As a Staff Engineer Backend, you will act as a project leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers, determining technical tasks, and improving existing structures and processes. Your role involves making technical decisions, collaborating with management to set standards, and representing the company to external partners. You will define the technical roadmap, drive innovation, and collaborate with product and engineering leadership to deliver impactful solutions.Key Responsibilities:- Act as a project or system leader, coordinating the activities of other engineers on the project or within the system- Determine the technical tasks that other engineers will follow- Proactively improve existing structures & processes- Exercise judgement in reconciling diverse and competing priorities to identify optimal solutions- Collaborate with management to set/improve standards for engineering rigor- Define and execute the backend technology strategy- Drive innovation and experimentation- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver business outcomes- Analyze requirements and transform them into scalable software designs- Advocate code craftsmanship, good coding standards, and use of tools to improve code quality- Lead in designing and architecting scalable backend systems focusing on cloud-native solutions, microservices, and serverless architectures- Influence and mentor engineering teams, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement- Design and implement fault-tolerant systems with a focus on high availability and disaster recovery- Implement advanced security practices including secure coding, encryption, and access controlQualifications Required:- Minimum of 8 years of backend development experience and a Bachelors degree in computer science or a related field- Proficiency in at least one backend language, such as Java- Expertise in backend development using Java EE technologies like Java language, application servers, servlet containers, JMS, JPA, Spring MVC, and Hibernate- Extensive experience in architecting and developing large-scale backend systems using Java EE, with a focus on Spring MVC or Hibernate- Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams, drive technical roadmaps, and ensure alignment with business objectives- Design and implement fault-tolerant systems with a focus on high availability and disaster recovery- Experience with advanced security practices, including secure coding, encryption, and access control- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodology for software development- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure- Contributions to open-source projectsCompany Details:The company is guided by core values of Inclusion, Innovation, Collaboration, and Wellness.
