Crane OperatorThe role of the Crane Operator is to operate the vesselscranes in a safe and efficient manner, as directed by the Chief Officer or their nominee thereby enabling the Deck Department to operate in a safe and efficient manner.QUALIFICATIONSSeagoing service in the deck department of 18 months.Six (6) months of this service may be replaced by successful completion of a training course approved by the Administrator.The symbol II/5 will appear after the designation to indicate that the seafarers function at the support level is that of a qualified Able Seafarer -Deck in accordance with STCW Regulation II/5.Helideck Landing Officer Certificate, valid for country of operationForklift certificate, valid for country of operationSparrows Stage 3 crane certificate12 months experience in an offshore role as (assistant) crane operatorRESPONSIBILITIESOperations The Crane Operator is to ascertain that the cranes are operated safely and within the Company and Client guidelines, and at all times be maintained to the highest standard. They are responsible for carrying out routine crane and deck machinery maintenance and any other such related duties commensurate with their abilities and as directed by the Chief Engineer or their nominee. The Crane Operator is to ensure that a valid Work Permit is in force for work on the crane or other deck machinery requiring such a permit. They are responsible for reporting any malfunctions of the cranes or of any other equipment of which they have knowledge to the deck and engineer officer on watch, and also as and when required to the electrician. In accordance with the rules concerning SEP and ISM, the Crane Operators responsibilities also include reporting as required by OOS Internationals Integrated Management System.
