  • Reporting to the Business Unit/Regional Resilience Head. Responsibilities include supporting the Regional Resilience Head across a portfolio of business areas within a Business Unit, working within the business to deliver an acceptable Risk Appetite position and assisting the BU to ensure compliance against the Barclays Group Resilience Policy.
  • Working with the Business Unit/Regional Head to develop, maintain and improve a business aligned, efficient and effective, Resilience Programme. To provide strategic advice to Senior Stakeholders; supporting and guiding the business area to construct and maintain well controlled, resilient processes.
  • Providing support in terms of:
  • Crisis Management; Education & Awareness; Governance & Reporting; Risk Management; Analysis; Provisioning and resilience strategies; Plan Development; Documentation and Maintenance; Information Technology Awareness and Business Validation
  • Ensuring that the Resilience toolsets are maintained, updated and reflective of the businesses preparedness in response to an event, incident and/or crisis
What will you be doing
  • Support and deliver against the business units Resilience strategy, ensuring the establishment of effective governance to maintain the Resilience (including recovery) capabilities to the Business Units Risk Appetite position.
  • Ensure the business adopts the Group s approach towards the management of Resilience and operate in such a way that ensures services to all stakeholders, clients and customers are not materially impacted during adverse events.
  • Ensure resilience is appropriately owned within the business and embedded as part of business planning, management and development.
  • Provide strategic direction and resilience guidance to all key stakeholders, including Senior Management (CEO, CIO and COO) and Executive level.
  • Support business area in identifying and documenting Front-to-Back processes (F2BPs) and help define the overall requirements that support the F2BP.
  • Engage with SME s to assess any Supplier, Technology or Premises Resilience requirements.
  • Lead the business in compiling and maintaining a Resilience Profile for each F2BP.
  • Assist the BU to drive the identification and remediation of gaps in Resilience and proactively identify and implement innovative solutions to mitigate Resilience risks.
  • Support the business in the management of any risk mitigation to obtain approval at the appropriate level.
  • Ensure Resilience is represented as necessary on projects / programmes where led by other Functions, such as Structural Reform etc. and present the Resilience position and expectations.
  • Timely and accurate provision of Resilience Management Information.
  • Represent the Business Unit at any necessary resilience and risk forums and steering committees.
  • Act as an ambassador for Barclays, representing Group Resilience as required at industry forums and during industry-wide exercises.
What we re looking for:
  • Proven, successful and comprehensive leadership experience in Resilience, Risk & Control and/or Chief of Staff in a complex organisation
  • Experienced and proven in operating in a matrix management model where influencing, negotiating and challenging skills have been highly leveraged.
  • Strong and proven record of operating with / advising the most senior levels of management in a large multinational financial organisation,
  • Proven stakeholder and relationship management skills at a senior level
  • Proven track record of developing and supporting the implementation of resilience controls that improve the control landscapes
  • Significant experience in business resilience and continuity, theoretical and practical, with a strong understanding of these disciplines within the financial services industry.
  • Is adept at root cause analysis and acts to treat the underlying problem strategically whilst implementing short term tactical solutions.
  • Understanding of threats, risks, impacts and associated mitigations as they relate to business resilience within a major banking organisation.
  • Understands and leverages the use of technology, integrating into overall business strategies and solutions where appropriate.
Skills that will help you in the role:
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant regulatory bodies, standards (e.g. FSA ISPB) and industry better practice (e.g. ISO22301, PAS56).
  • Knowledge of working in an ERMF environment with a 3LoD methodology.
  • Experience of working in a relationship management, advisory or consultancy role.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication capabilities including presentation and influencing, with the ability to interact and influence at all levels of the organisation.
  • Maintains high standards of personal integrity, whilst demonstrating respect for other viewpoints.
  • Proven competency in use of MS Office applications
