Job Description

A warehouse manager is responsible for the overall condition and operations done inside a warehouse. He/she is also responsible for distributing work and assigning jobs to the workforce. He/she makes sure that the warehouse and its surrounding area is clean and well maintained.Duties: A warehouse manager oversees all the operations that are ongoing in the warehouse. He/she makes sure that everything goes smoothly. He/she makes sure that all target projects are done properly within the timeframe. A warehouse manager also manages and keeps track of the stock, making sure that everything is in order from the ordering, to its transit, to the delivery. At the same time, a warehouse manager is also responsible for the daily logs of the staff. He/she audits daily labor and the billing reports. He/she is also in charge of writing cheques as well as keeping track of the daily bank deposits. Warehouse managers are also in charge of keeping the staff happy. They provide support and advice whenever needed. They always try to motivate the workforce to be effective and efficient in everything they need to execute.Education and Training Requirements: A warehouse manager does not necessarily have to have a bachelors degree in logistics and operations. He/she does not even have to have gone to a trade school to be a warehouse manager. Sometimes, even a high school graduate is accepted. They just have to start from the entry-level job and move their way up the ranks. That is to prove that they are capable of doing the job well.Knowledge and Skills Requirements: To become successful warehouse managers, one must have great attention to detail. Warehouse managers need to be organized and able to manage to manage your time wisely. Having good communication skills is a plus too, because they will be talking with all the staff. Warehouse managers also need to know how to operate heavy machinery. Knowledge on computers, especially the office programs is necessary. Warehouse managers must also have the ability to remain calm even under pressure.Working Conditions: Warehouse managers of course work in warehouses. They spend at least 40 hours a week working. This does not include overtime for finishing reports and inventory.
