Job Description

    This role will support projects in discovery services at Syngene. The individual should have excellent communication and leadership skills with the ability to manage the changing client and CRO environment. The individual should possess the ability to lead and influence matrix cross-functional teams with internal and external stakeholders to ensure projects are delivered on time, budget and quality. Key Responsibilities:
    • Apply PMBOK principles and methodologies to drive all five levers of project management for moderate to complex projects and programs to ensure project delivery on budget, time and quality and excellent customer experience
    • Manage a portfolio of projects, programs and operations for the largest sub-group of Discovery Biology business unit- monitor and report portfolio health and performance, manage MIS and revenue risk management for the portfolio
    • Manage client-based portfolios as a single-point contact to established partnership, manage expectations, governance, monitor and report portfolio health and enhance customer experience
    • Work closely with senior management and head of business unit to manage MIS, revenue risks, performance, productivity, health and executive dashboard/ reports
    • Critically review and participate in pre-initiation activities from project costing, risk assessment, liabilities
    • Manage large to very large, complex projects independently through pre-initiation to post-closure activities in compliance with Syngene s project management manual and guidelines, to ensure that project deliverables are met
    • Manage programs and large projects in an integrated fashion- developing integrated program plans mapping risks and dependencies across multiple disciplines, functions and operations under limited supervision or intervention of senior leaders
    • As appropriate, identify, negotiate and manage external resources including clients, consultants, investigators, vendors, partners, services and contractors
    • Maintain project team decision log and risk log with mitigation and contingency actions (scope change document)
    • Plan, assign and track project plan w.r.t resource, schedule and budget
    • Lead scheduling of team meetings and preparation of project team agendas and minutes
    • Communicate appropriate project information and reports to the Project Team Leader and project team in a timely manner
    • Develop and ensuring project Governance and Communication Matrix
    • Identify and manage (with the Project Leader) all project related issues, to ensure prompt resolution and to avoid negative impact on budget or schedule
    • Facilitate cross-functional communications and decision-making, ensuring alignment with internal and external stakeholders
    • Proactively identify project risks and propose risk mitigation strategies
    • Identify and ensure all documentation are in compliance with regulatory requirements and appropriately assembled and archived
    • As a member of the project team, participate in the development of the vision and strategy for Syngene s Global Program Office
    • Follow environment, health, and safety (EHS) requirements at all times in the workplace ensuring individual and lab/plant safety
    • Ensure environment, health, and safety (EHS) measures are imparted via training and adhered within the team
    Educational Qualification:
    • Masters in life sciences with background in biotechnology/ biology/ pharma or related disciplines
    • PMP or CAPM certification will be an added advantage
    Technical/functional Skills:
    • Ability to multi-task and independently handle cross-functional projects with multiple stakeholders
    • Excellent communication skills in English, with collaboration and influencing skills
    • Strong knowledge of PMBOK principles and practical application of PMBOK-based methodologies, tools & techniques
    • Proficiency in industry-standard project management tools viz. MS-Projects, MS-Excel
    • Working knowledge of regulatory, legal and supply chain processes for early discovery to early development for biologics, biosimilars and small molecules is an advantage
    • Excellent presentation and analytical skills, effectively using Microsoft office tools
    • Knowledge of SAP project management modules (PSM, PPM) desired
    . Experience:
    • 12-15 years of total experience in biotech/pharma/CRO industry, of which,
    • 8-10 years of experience in core project management, and
    • 3-5 years of scientific/laboratory experience with good domain knowledge of basic drug discovery disciplines (biology, DMPK and/or toxicology)
    Behavioral Skills:
    • Excellent in Communication skills (English - both oral and written)
    • Self-directed, proactive, responsive, and able to handle competing priorities with the ability to work independently with minimal direction
    • Ability to focus on a variety of issues and aim to drive results; interact with a variety of stakeholders and foster cross-functional / cultural teamwork
    • Great teammate and strong stakeholder management skills
    • Must be service-minded, flexible, and possess strong interpersonal skills. The ability to handle multiple conflicting tasks in a fast-paced environment is a must.
