As a Deputy Head of Accounting, you oversee all day - to - day aspects of the accounting department of the Belgian headquarter including foreign branches (+/ - 10) and you report directly to the Head of Accounting, who takes temporary responsibility over the project management of a new ERP implementation program and other integration projects. You are involved in the supervision and execution of general accounting activities and you are responsible for the timely execution of the monthly closing and reporting process. You maintain effective internal controls, ensuring statutory compliance and you keep general accounting practices in line with accounting policies, BGAAP and IFRS. You are the contact for the external audit and responsible for the auditor s prepared by client list. You play the coordinating role during annual audit processes. You are also tasked with the preparation of the annual account and quarterly and/ or annual reporting to the works council. You play a mentorship role to accounting personnel, supporting their day - to - day tasks. You support the internal team and help to plan the activities for the general accounting, accounts payable and bank recording teams. You ensure a proper follow up of the double accounting treatment of our foreign branches. You collaborate with external tax accounting firms to maintain the local bookkeeping by exchanging accounting and VAT data. As partner of the Head of Accounting who will be temporarily assigned to participate in the transformation to a new ERP System, you collaborate and advise on development of accounting procedures and you oversee the implementation of approved changes across the department upon approval. Profile : Experience: The candidate for this position must have had at least 7 years of working experience in a leading accounting position within a fast - paced and dynamic environment, preferably as a Senior Accountant or an Accounting manager within an international environment. Communication Skills: The candidate must have good communication skills especially for his/ her role where the clear information towards personnel will determine how effectively collaborative duties are executed. Ms Office/ Software: The candidate must be proficient in Ms Excel, Ms Office, Ms Outlook. Experience with SAP ERP system is a must. Experience with Sigma reporting tool is a plus. Soft Skills: The candidate has a keen eye for detail, works comfortably in a highly collaborative setting, has an ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines, has an ability to operate comfortably in a fast - paced and fast - evolving environment, is highly organized and hands - on, is a self - starter and proactive requiring minimal supervision. Leadership/ People Skills: The candidate must be a people person who forms strong bonds with other collaborative people and external contacts. Languages : Fluency in English, Dutch is a must and French is a plus.
