Academic CounselorPosition Summary: The Academic Counselor plays a pivotal role in providing guidance and support to students in their academic journey. They are responsible for assisting students in setting educational and career goals, addressing academic challenges, and developing strategies to achieve success. The Academic Counselor collaborates with students, parents, faculty, and staff to create a positive and conducive learning environment, fostering student growth and development.Key Responsibilities:Student Counseling: Provide one-on-one academic counseling sessions to students to assess their needs, strengths, and challenges. Offer guidance on course selection, academic planning, and goal setting to ensure students make informed decisions about their educational paths.Academic Support: Identify students who require additional academic assistance and create personalized intervention plans. Monitor students progress, provide tutoring referrals, and offer study skills and time management strategies to enhance their academic performance.Career Guidance: Assist students in exploring career options and opportunities by conducting career assessments, workshops, and informational sessions. Stay updated on current job market trends and educational requirements for various professions.Student Advocacy: Advocate for students academic needs and interests with faculty and administrative staff. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to address any academic or administrative challenges faced by students.Educational Planning: Assist students in creating academic plans that align with their career goals and interests. Review course requirements, prerequisites, and graduation criteria to ensure students are on track to meet their academic objectives.College Applications and Scholarships: Guide students through the college application process, including researching potential institutions, writing personal statements, and preparing for interviews. Provide support in identifying and applying for scholarships and financial aid opportunities.Academic Workshops: Develop and conduct workshops and seminars on topics such as time management, study skills, stress management, and academic success strategies to promote student well-being and academic achievement.Data Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of counseling sessions, academic plans, and student progress.
