Job Description

    Manager, Product Management
    • Review recommended solutions and work of the product team to ensure that offerings are aligned with company, stakeholder, and end user priorities
    • Documents, review, and ensure that all quality and change control standards are met
    • Remove roadblocks and obstacles that may impair product teams to help ensure delivery of our offerings in order to meet strategic, financial, and technical goals
    • Develop consistent methods for measuring business value creation and help teams build appropriate KPIs or success criteria into their plans
    • Provide regular updates to leadership regarding progress of the offerings within your portfolio
    • Provide leadership, mentoring, and coaching to product managers
    • Attract, retain, and develop top talent to build an outstanding Product Management team
    • Foster collaboration with team members (Engineering, UX, etc.) to increase value and identify and resolve impediments
    • Serve as a proponent of modern software development practices
    • Advocate for the end users and stakeholders by becoming associated with the offerings, empathizing with and understanding user needs
    • Support newly established product teams in kickoff, discovery and scoping, and framing activities
    • Work with the product management team to continuously assess progress, disseminate lessons learned, and understand next steps
    • Guide more junior team members in strategy, alignment, analysis, and implementation tasks
    • Participate in and contribute to learning activities around modern software design and development core practices like communities of practice (CoPs)
    What you will bring
    • 5+ years of business or technical product management, product marketing, or development experience in the software industry
    • 3+ years of people management experience; record of growing talent
    • Expertise with agile software development practices
    • Ability to think strategically and tactically to deliver releases of offerings on time
    • Proven ability to work cross-functionally in a highly matrixed organization
    • Ability to actively manage scope, meet deadlines, and deliver business value
    • Solid communication, presentation, and product management skills
    • Ability to use persuasion skills to impact discussions even when holding a position contrary to the majority
    • Bachelor s degree
    The following are considered a plus:
    • Demonstrated record of inspiring others without having direct authority over them
    • Product management or agile development-related certification or certifications
    • Familiarity with at least one area like artificial intelligence (AI) or machine learning (ML) methods, APIs, containerization, or open source technology
    • Storytelling or data visualization skills
    • Willingness to travel for meetings up to 15% of the time, following Red Hat s COVID-19 guidelines
