Job summary The Application Engineer is required to be a seasoned professional with strong knowledge of fiber optics, IP/Ethernet & Telecom Transmission technologies, GIS/OSS/EMS systems. Having a broad knowledge of the Telecommunication network working/workflow be it Telcos/ISP/MSO will be advantageous. Should have good people, technical skills, work in a team (team player) as the candidate will be required to work with teams having diverse culture and practices both within and external. This position requires a person who can demonstrate strong knowledge, understanding of the product line, can operate with minimal supervision, is a self-motivated person, fast learner and is highly competent in developing business strategies for FNMM product line. What you ll do
    • Contribute in achieving or exceeding the regional sales and business development objectives in collaboration with all concerned.
    • Support the sales team during proposal phase of new/existing opportunities providing pricing estimates, resource requirement, preliminary project time lines, SOW language and acceptance test plans.
    • Work closely with regional sales team to schedule all required deliverables for RFP/RFI/Tenders includes regular progress reporting and flagging issues/delays.
    • Own pre-sales cycle, including assisting sales in closing the sale, business development objectives along with SSS.
    • To assist in reviewing the RFP/RFI/Tender documents and providing compliances docs, data sets working along with SE, Post sales team, PLM and Sales teams.
    • Assist in developing and delivering product presentations at customers, conferences and other venues as required.
    • Provide technical expertise and support in the positioning and sales of EXFO s FNMM product line.
    • Helping to devise and deliver product-based training to our internal and external sales teams.
    • Taking responsibility for effective deployment and adoption of demo equipment for field trials/ POC.
    • Liaison with sales/SE team and Project Manager to ensure full understanding of the customer environment, solution sold and expectations of all parties
    • Utilize Saleforce.com CRM system for documenting and tracking all sales related and any customer related issues.
    • Assist SSS to ensure we have a fully documented customer profile for every opportunity where a quote is made and all relevant data in the CRM is up to date.
    • Work with SE/SS to resolve any product issues discovered during POC implementation and be the customer s advocate.
    • Provide post implementation onsite trouble shooting assistance in support of the SE/SS team as required.
    • Assist with demo system and internal lab maintenance.
    • Assist Solution Engineers/ System Support with Proof of Concept deployments, test acceptance plans, etc.
    What we re looking for Technical skills
    • Knowledge of fiber optics networks & Ethernet technologies.
    • Versed in the issues & challenges of our clients in the telecom space.
    • Knowledge of optic networks- design & planning, implementation, maintenance cycles.
    • Knowledge of Optical Telecommunication test and measurement instrumentation.
    • Issues & challenges faced by fiber maintenance teams.
    • Should have a fair basic knowledge of basic transmission technologies.
    • Good understanding of IP networks/IT connectivity and relevant protocols.
    • Good understandable knowledge of Test system components.
    • Familiar with network monitoring applications and/or test tools.
    • Familiar with GIS/OSS/EMS systems.
    • Good understanding of integration process/ protocols with the above systems is an added advantage.
    • Familiar with MS office tools, Visio project library, MS project tools.

    Must have Pertinent experience: 10-12 years experience selling in consultative, direct sales and team environments. Experience working within direct and overlay sales environments Language requirements: English is a pre-requisite, others are advantageous. Education: Engineering Degree in telecommunications, electronics or equivalent Travel: 50-70% Any other combination of experience/studies will be considered. What we are offering
