Job Description

  • The Cloud Tech Sales Engineer is responsible for designing and architecting complex Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS) cloud computing focused on ERP applications.
  • The Cloud Tech Sales Engineer is a consultative seller who works with client and IBM teams to identify, architect and design solutions which accelerate the client s adoption of cloud computing and ERP cloud solutions.
  • The Cloud ERP Engineer will have an understanding of the breadth of IBMs cloud solutions portfolio, the ability to translate the client vision into an overall systems architecture that uses GBS, GTS, SWG and other IBM business unit cloud capabilities.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate must be able to:
  • Lead and work with client teams to assess client requirements and qualify the opportunities.
  • Demonstrate the ability to create comprehensive, tactically and strategically viable technical solution architectures for IaaS and PaaS environments which meet complex client functional, non-functional and budgetary requirements during sales cycle.
  • Demonstrate extensive experience with architecting, selling and closing complex cloud services opportunities, both as standalone solutions and as part of Strategic Outsourcing engagements.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of how to elicit and document complex client requirements and translate those to supporting application and infrastructure architectures , implementation and integration roadmaps through the use of a consistent set of architectural methods and techniques.
  • Cloud Tech Sales Engineers will lead discussions, conduct workshops and working sessions to understand and validate the client requirements and use cases, ensuring our architectural recommendations are viable and address the client s compelling reasons to act.
  • Position IBM Cloud Services full suite of cloud services and solutions in compelling business cases to address application (such as SAP, Oracle, other Analytical application products) and infrastructure optimization solutions, including knowledge of the IBM cloud offerings (Cloud Managed Services), and migration services.
  • Lead cross discipline sales and solution teams towards a common vision while operating effectively in a cross-organizational highly matrixed environment.
  • Lead/assist in writing winning proposals in response to client RFPs, RFI or qualified requirements
Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Knowledge and experience in ERP/CRM/Analytics, Virtualization, IT Optimization, IBM Cloud solutions, Service Management and Cloud competitive solutions to our IBM cloud products and solutions.
  • Knowledge of enterprise, infrastructure, server, network architectures and the ability to translate specific customer application capabilities into comprehensive infrastructure requirements.
  • Experience as a technical leader in managed services opportunities as stand-alone or as part of larger strategic outsourcing engagements
  • Experience working with C level executives, ability to effectively convey ROIs to deliver key transformational messages and vision
  • Operational experience in infrastructure management, security, networking, cloud computing, virtualization or orchestration software.
  • Readiness to travel 50% travel annually
Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
  • At least 1 year experience in IBMs entire Cloud Portfolio and able to articulate strategy to client to meet business needs
  • At least 3 years experience in services business development with a focus on ERP systems
  • At least 3 years experience in selling/consulting services around ERP/CRM/Analytics applications
  • At least 5 years experience in designing, architecting, selling and closing managed services opportunities as stand-alone or as part of strategic outsourcing
  • At least 5 years experience in engaging in C-Level relationship building and communicating
  • At least 5 years experience in leading cross discipline technology teams towards a common solution strategy in a matrix environment
  • At least 5 years experience in applying consultative selling and solution approach to client opportunity
  • At least 5 years experience in engaging directly with IT and C-level executives on issues as it relates to the development of a business case.
